He didn’t know how to be balanced. A don should be ruthless but also compassionate and have a heart.

Each of vito’s sons were that balance out of wack. Sonny was too emotional. Fredo was too weak and kind hearted. Michael was too cold. It’s the Goldilocks syndrome
The last ounce of humanity Michael had was not killing his brother till his mother passed away, that's deep

Bad choice in husband, sleeping with one guy after another, ignoring her children. What about Connie would have been a good Don?

I always thought that Michael saw the weakness in Tom and was punishing Tom for going along with the Turk's plan.

Haven't seen the GF in years, what plan was that? Hagen was trying to save his own tail so he told the Turk he could broker peace after the failed hit.

What did Michael expect him to do? He was kidnapped IIRC.

He was. But like Vito said, that’s not what it’s all about. And Michael didn’t learn that until it was too late in a movie I refuse to recognize
As a person whose watched these films many times the third movie is just puzzling, why was his security so lacking? Dude was just asking for it

Going along and lying to your enemy is one thing. Going back and trying to convince your brother to go along with that plan is another. Tom did both.

If anything he should of done it himself, it was cowardly to do it the way he did

it should of been a nino brown type of killing
I see what you're saying but at that point in the movie, Michael wasn't a trigger man

That’s kinda it tho. He was asking for it. The third movie is all about Michael accepting he needs to pay for his sins. Pacino disagreed. Didn’t think Michael was the ask for forgiveness type, but that’s the movie

its all about regretting killing fredo, he thought money could solve it but it didn’t. He always failed to protect the women in his life

Mike.

1. He doesn't have the attachment to family that Vito does. Vito backs down from a war to protect Michael and Fredo after he sees what happens to Sonny. Michael kills Fredo because he is a weakspot.
2. Vito only controlled his NY territory. By the end of 3, Michael controls the world.

Michael inherited what his father built.
