When The Rock, or anyone for that matter, beats that then someone @ me. Please.

I'm surprised Arnold didn't get into directing more. His Tales From The Crypt episode "The Switch" was solid.

Yeah dude was dropping hit after hit. most people can't match that resume.

A lot of bodybuilders and would be bodybuilders thought they could follow in Arnold's footsteps. Get big, head out to Hollywood and someone will notice you. Lots of broken dreams out on Venice Beach

They're not checking big dudes nowadays. Matter of fact they get known actors to just bulk up. That shyt is over. Unless you're looking to be cast as a goon.
Damn so if arnold was coming up in our day would he have made it in hollywood?

I think Rock can be every bit the star Arnold was. Some will say The Rock is bigger and his films made more money even when adjusted for inflation, but The Rock does not choose anything groundbreaking. To me, he comes from the Will Smith school of picking movies. Will has just fortunate enough to pick better movies.

Rock definitely has the appeal, the charisma, the physique. It's just a shame he picks these soft PG13s or he attaches himself to other people's property.

I almost feel if the story was tweaked, he could've made some legendary films.

What if Doom was produced and had more of a Total Recall/Evil Dead feel to it.

What if Central Intelligence was a Hard R, buddy cop film.

To answer the question, I think Arnold was arguably the biggest star in Hollywood from 87 to 94. There were a couple in his orbit, Eddie, Deniro, Pacino...of course Stallone.

Doom should have been Rock’s Classic.

There'd be a space for Arnold purely because he's so charismatic. But I don't think he'd be as big as he was during that period. Like homie said, shyt has changed. I've always felt Arnold's acting is underrated (T2 is a fantastic performance) but most of our action stars today are classically trained actors who just so happen can do action. Action movies have gone the John McClane route instead of the Dutch route; guys who look normal and can get busy if they need to. Emphasizing lean muscle and agility and speed over raw power.

I have seen all of those movies at least 15 times minimum except for Twins. Pretty sure I saw it no more than 3 times :wow:

The rock being #1 is mostly marketing hype. He’ll put assess in seats, but nowhere close to what Prime Arnold did. Hell, if you takeaway franchise films (Fast Series), and Kevin Heart, the Rock doesn’t really have shyt. Hercules flopped, rampage didn’t flop, but was meh, Baywatch flopped. What hits does he have?
Objectively speaking the rundown gridiron gang and walking tall

That’s not an objective statement unless you’re talking box office. And even then none of those match peak Arnold once you adjust for inflation. Probably even if you don’t

Stallone never had a hit as big as T2.

I’d check the box office numbers. I think he was but I could be wrong
Sly got him beat, but the Expendables and Guardian of the galaxy fluffed the numbers

Stallone vs Schwarzenegger: Who Was The Bigger Action Star? – Throwback History

I never fukked with Terminator like that. But when I think back, Arnold definitely had the higher highs.
He worked a lot less and made just as much if not more $ than Sly.

I'm not counting Guardians lol. Just like I don't count Arnold showing up in Around the world in 80 days. But Arnold is also in Expendales

Well then thats not an objective statement, homie. Movie quality is purely subjective. I know that's a constant debate on here but im firmly on the side that its subjective as hell and based on so many factors that have to do with us personally

Never fukked with the first 2 Terminators? Wow. Don't hear that often.

Sly has the Oscars, Arnold has the title tho. But it's not a blow out. They both have franchises and failures. Arnold had more success with comedy tho. Sly had more success with reviving Rocky then Arnold did Terminator tho. At least critically.
