Hahahahahaha....come back to this thread in a year. House of Saud will still be firmly in power.

Trump doesn’t give a fukk. Even if we had a Dem President they wouldn’t give a fuk. The Saudis are baked into the cake when it comes to US foreign policy in the ME.

People are surprised that murderous dynastic monarchies kill domestic opponents (actual or perceived)?

The only thing that can lead to downfall of the family is domestic instability. And with oil at 100/barrel, the money is flowing rather nicely.

Remember that for the saudis the more instability in the Middle East the better. Instability = higher oil prices. This is actually a blessing for them.

this is so important. can you imagine if a non-Muslim power had troops in combat in Saudi? Even having military bases with Saudi government consent was an egregious insult to bin Laden and his ilk. If there was a live war with U.S. troops anywhere near the holy cities it would be an unprecedented disaster.

Pakistan and Egypt won't be coming to house of Saud's rescue either. Iran is Shiite and are considered non Muslim by Saudis. Turkey is probably building that naval base in sudan for this scenario. It's right across red Sea to Mecca.

.

They very likely will be in power in a year no one is saying otherwise but they are destabilizing. MbS is hated by almost every royal except his dad. And he might be king soon. He's been a massive failure so far. House of saud is no longer united.

Palace intrigue is not new.

In the Middle East it’s all about who has the support of the military. And then the U.S. The Saudis own both trump and Kushner - as long as they’re in power I believe MBS position is secure.

To make matters even more hilarious - it’s not even like the military is controllled by native Saudis. If it were at least then we could consider the possibility that internal ethnic/political divisions that inflame the people may spill over into military ranks. They rely almost exclusively on American/British advisors to train/manage their defense.

And with oil money flowing my guess is that all of the important generals will have carte blanche to buy whatever toys and fund whatever (mis) adventures, they please.

I think people underestimate the extent to which dictators and autocrats worldwide have flourished and gained power (via ballots, guns and more importantly political disaffection) and even acceptance.

Jamal Khashoggi: Trump suggests 'rogue killers' to blame

:mjlol:Like they would admit it
US President Donald Trump has suggested "rogue killers" could be behind the disappearance of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Turkey.

Speaking to reporters after a phone call with King Salman, he said the Saudi leader had firmly denied knowing what had happened to Mr Khashoggi.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is flying to Saudi Arabia immediately.

Saudi and Turkish investigators are due to search the Saudi consulate where Mr Khashoggi was last seen.

Turkish officials believe Mr Khashoggi was murdered in the consulate by Saudi agents nearly two weeks ago but Riyadh has always strongly denied this.

Lol right on cue.

The cover story has been agreed upon and you just had the most powerful person in the world disseminate the lie.

Agendas have been accomplished.

Saudis send a message - dissidents/detractors can be touched anywhere in the world.

Turks have a nice piece of leverage that can be brought out if circumstances require. They most likely also extracted some very valuable concessions from the Saudis behind the scenes.

trump has delivered something to one of his primary financial benefactors. Shows the world he’s open for business.

thats why i think if the house of Saud is going to fall Iran will get deeply involved. whoever has the holy cities will be able to secure and determine who can make hajj and Iran will not want to allow that person to say the Shi'a can't go.

Saudis let Shiites go to hajj. No one has ever stopped them. Iran has almost 0 legitimacy outside of couple Shia countries they'd never manage to hold Mecca. Theyre more interested in expanding into East Saudi and getting uae, Bahrain, qatar to kiss the ring. They are already stretched thin in Syria and semi broke, they are a dying nation themselves. Either saudis hold it or Turks do. Egypt and Pakistan are broke and dysfunctional.
