Exactly. Striking when the iron is hot is what puts them in a different tier.
But they can't maintain that simply because a new generation will eventually emerge that wasn't influenced by them directly. Even if they influence that youth's influential artist(s), they're power won't be as strong, even though they may have more fans.
I think I remember Kanye saying on his last breakfast club interview, he didn't watch the same shows, nor watch the same games, and didn't evolve with the new youth, so it makes it tricky.
