mfr's really don't understand geopolitics. Russia cannot be allowed to bigfoot it's way through Europe. All of the progress made post WW2, which in large part was helped/paid for by the US. Russia would no doubt undo all of that in any nation they are allowed to exert power in.
The reason the US along with many other nations are pumping so many resources into Ukraine is because everyone knows how shytty Russia is and nobody wants it to spread.
