He’s getting fewer minutes than Winslow at this point (in fact he’s 5th on the team in minutes at just 27 per game) and only averaging about 1 more shot than a guy shooting 36% from the field. Unless the team is actively tanking, there’s no reason for this. Clearly Spo doesn’t see much value in him, so something needs to change. Right now everyone’s time is being wasted. If I were him, I’d have told pat a long time ago that it’s me or Spo. It’s insulting to watch this when we know how much of an impact he can have if you keep him involved in the offense and actually give him minutes.
At this point I’m not sure what quality of value he brings to the table as a coach beyond “guys play hard for him”, and that doesn’t mean much when you’re bad at everything else. He’s clearly shown that his teams don’t overachieve at any point and he frequently causes unfathomably bad losses both in individual games and in playoff series with all sorts of bad decisions he makes. This is going to be his 7th non LeBron season. The offense is never good under him, they always get pummeled in the second half, players don’t develop well for the most part, there’s rarely any consistency in the rotation, and he loves to stick players together on the floor who are bad offensively at the same time. Just the same mistakes over and over, year after year.
