pretty much what I thought. No way they deserved those dollars or years. He got bit by a contract year hustle.Pat Riley says Heat current roster ‘has not come together’ as he expected. What’s next?
So Pat pretty much admitted what most of us thought. He panicked after losing out on Hayward and Durant then gave out some 4 year deals.
“On July 1, I didn’t want to be left with nobody,” RIley explained. “After five days of Gordon having to make a decision, I didn’t want to lose some players we had. I do know James had a deal [elsewhere if Miami didn’t sign him]. It was my decision. I didn’t want to lose all three of them.”
▪ But why sign Waiters and Johnson and sacrifice so much cap space, with Miami projected to be more than $35 million above next season’s cap unless Whiteside and Dragic surprisingly opt out?
“We weren’t thinking of room after we lost Kevin Durant and Hayward,” Riley said. “We were thinking we had that 30-11 team come back [Miami’s record in the second half of the 2016-17 season]. We thought the contracts we gave were longterm contracts. That’s on me. You can put that all on me. We didn’t land Hayward and I didn’t want [to lose] the other two guys.”
Hassan doesn’t have half the fortitude and guts that the Warden had. Talent wise he still hasn’t tapped his potential. But dude points way too many fingers. Blame has to come from the inside wit this one. Sad story really. We’d all feel the same way playing for a coach who sees us as another Joel Anthony just being asked to set screens, grab a few defensive rebounds, and stay out of the way for the most part while hardly getting minutes
if Joel Anthony had the same physical gifts as Hassan I guarantee you he'd come back from atleast one summer with some post moves. We’d all feel the same way playing for a coach who sees us as another Joel Anthony just being asked to set screens, grab a few defensive rebounds, and stay out of the way for the most part while hardly getting minutes
Spo never wanted him in the first place. He didn’t like giving him minutes even when Shawn Williams and bill walker were getting minutes, and he’s never wanted him involved in the offense ever. He’d bench him to go with 5 guards on the floor for entire quarters. The team has had an offense better than league average once in the last 5 years. Reality is that Spo is terrible on offense and struggles to utilize anyone to the best of their abilities. How long was he using Winslow as a 3&D small forward before realizing that he’s a point guard?Hassan doesn’t have half the fortitude and guts that the Warden had.
