Heat at a loss for answers, solutions after a third consecutive home loss

Like we thought, the contracts we handed out are so bad that they’re looked at as literally untradeable and the Heat have been trying. Riley really overestimated a lot of our players based off that run and let some awful contracts fly.

The Heat remains one of the league’s least efficient and least potent teams offensively.

Miami tied a season high with 24 turnovers, which led to 31 points, most allowed by Miami all season off turnovers.

“You can’t win ball games when you give away that many extra possessions to the other team,” Wade said. “Last time, coach slowed everything down and we went to quote, unquote old man basketball. We got to figure it out, especially going on this road trip. If we turn the ball over, it’s going to be 30, 40 point blowouts.”

Spoelstra said of the turnovers: “Had almost 50 turnovers in two home games against that team. They force you out of your comfort zone. We had some really tough turnovers in addition to ones they force you into. We had some unforced ones that are pretty costly. There were some unexplainable ones to say the least.”

What’s more, Miami shot just 42 percent and 30 percent on threes (9 for 30).

The Heat had more turnovers in the fourth quarter (five) than made field goals (3 in 15 attempts).

Miami’s 14 first-half turnovers were most by the Heat in any half this season.

Whiteside and Winslow had four turnovers apiece, and Tyler Johnson, James Johnson, Josh Richardson and Kelly Olynyk had three apiece.

Miami entered 23rd in the league in turnovers (14.4 per game), 26th in points per game (105.3), 28th in field goal percentage (44.3), and 30th in free throw percentage (68.8).

In an era when scoring is up, Miami is now 2-13 when it fails to score 100 points.

Communication also remains surprisingly uneven for a team that has been together this long.

In the 13 games since Dion Waiters has been back, he’s scoring 7 PPG on 37% shooting, shoorting almost five 3s a game at 27%, and average 2.5 AST and REB.

This is who we thought would save our season and signed for 3 more years.

gotta get shooters on the squad
but how
as previously stated, we burdened with virtually untradeable contracts (TJ :mjlol:)
i guess once dragic return, we'll have an additional offensive threat :ld:

playoffs looking less likely. Heat have the 3rd toughest remaining schedule in the league. Detroit has one of the easiest.

Riley needs to at least move Hassan this deadline.

I know his value is in the toilet right now (mostly his fault) since no FO wants to deal with a headcase with a huge contract but take what you can for him as long as we're not taking on a bad contract in return. If Bam is supposed to be the future in the middle we're developing then send Hassan packing and throw Bam right into the fire. I think Olynyk and Bam can hold us down in the middle.

I was hoping we could at least get int o the Anthony Davis trade talk as a 3rd team to shed some of our less-desired contracts (face it we have no shot at getting AD himself) but with what the Pelicans want, i dont see how we get to that table at all.

i was hoping we did whatevers necessary to force a trade for Beal. I feel he’s a good piece to build with for the future

Bam isn’t ready to start. His rim protection is lacking and he isn’t great at contesting shots in the paint.

Wizards have no incentive to trade Beal when he’s been this good and Wall is injured.

Never understood the attraction to Beal but perhaps i havent seen him enough. I used to like Wiggins better but Wiggins hasnt done shyt with all that athleticism.

But as usual when we discuss trades i will ask:
  1. What reason does WAS have to get rid of him. Is he unhappy/not getting along with Wall? Has he requested a trade?
  2. What do we have that they would want without having to give up the whole house + picks

Bam can start. He still has a lot to learn but Having a rim protector isn't that crucial in the NBA anymore. Especially not on a team that's barely a playoff team.
