Watching now just wanted to pop in and say that this is the best performance I’ve seen from Viola Davis. I always thought she was good but she’s incredible in this.

hell of a sign off for Boseman too. Dude is electric in this so far

Just finished it. Two of the best performances of the year. Great, great movie. Soon as Levie hesitated and didn’t steal off on the exec I knew taking that anger out on the next dude who gave him even half of a reason. Chadwick really nailed the role, someone just so full of life that they just can’t keep their emotions in check when they start getting carried away. Hell of a performance.

I loved this movie.
August Wilson's dialog is so lyrical and poetic and Reuben Santiago Hudson did a great job of adapting it to a film and keeping those qualities.
George Wolf's direction managed to keep the intimacy of the stage play yet still make it fit the screen without ever coming off as stilted or limited.
Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman both gave beautiful performances that were so full of subtext and pain. If they don't get all the award nominations for these two roles then the awards community is on some bullshyt.
Just a great movie.

I actually think he was way better here than in Get On Up. He was good in that, but he was transformative here.

He's picking up steam for his performance in Da 5 Bloods as well. Got a decent shot at two acting nominations.
