Ending seemed a little forced, but I get what it was saying and that is very true.




Question for you and those who have seen/read the play: did the characters say “nikka” in the play as much as they did in the movie? That was the only thing that struck me as odd. I didn’t think Black folk used that word as much back then.

No. I’m African American. But born in the 80s so I only know what older folks have told me.

I know the word was used prior to hip hop, but I have always been told that it wasn’t used nearly as much and not entirely in the same manner as “bro” like it is today.
