Thing is, this isn't an opinion, he's just speaking from a quality angle...

"we gotta separate commerce and art when we talk about music. You don't get in the museum by having a lot of money" :manny:

Great music is what will get you in the museum :manny:
I get it, but that's a rewrite. He has had critically acclaimed albums. Not all of them, but his first 3 plus relapse if you ask me. He's the reason white boys rap now. There is no action bronson, logic, etc with out an showing white dudes can do it and respect the culture. The places he took rap should be respected. The artists he brought to the forefront owe Eminem part of their legacy. The fact that they even tried slaughterhouse, albeit never to their full potential, should be enough for y'all to respect em.

Eminem might have great technical ability, but limited subject matter and has only made 3 good albums. Crazy how Eminem fans on say artists have fallen off after 2 bad songs, but keep defending this guy who was only able to make great albums between 1999 and 2002...and his good albums aged badly

Eminem may have influenced a few newschool rappers, but nobody besides Hopsin is trying to make music that sounds like him...its not even up to discussion unless you don't know shyt about music

The way you gauging influence is fukked up....I know I'm in here clowning and stanning But pay attention, I'm trying to learn you nikkas something.

Inspiring copycats isn't the wave.

I don't know how old you are but depending on your age you might remember "Angelous"

This is bititing, or if we gonna put a PC spin on it "direct influence"

Jay-Z had a couple of these guys but he was the most notable one to the point that he's actually disgusting to listen to...but then you have for a lack of a better term, lateral or actual influence where you have someone like Lil Wayne make a transition to being perceived as some sort of lyrical powerhouse via Jay's influence on his lyrical approach. He was clearly doing some "biting" but in the end, he took the influence and put his spin on it until it became his.

The same difference between Agelous and Wayne is the same difference between someone like Hopsin and say a J Cole or Earl Sweatshirt.

Yall looking for evidence of Eminem's influence by how many people are biting him...that's not where you're going to find it.

How do you gauge the opportunities that somebody like a Loaded Lux gets to use the fukking art form to get 30 racks for a 30 minute set with no MUSIC (A major key) in a direct head to head with another MC that wouldn't otherwise have an avenue to get paid off their skill besides this crooked ass record industry. If you influenced that how much should that out-weight fashion trends and making music that's easy to dupe?

- Kanye west is not in the GOAT rapper conversation.

I don't wanna hijack the thread, but I have mixed feelings on Kanye, and I was curious if you'd agree with this. I think he is not a great rapper, but I think as an artist (total package/producer/rapper/etc) that he is arguably the most influential 'hip-hop artist' from 2004-2011.

As a pure rapper I definitely don't think he's in the GOAT convo, but he's made at least a couple classics.

Not to mention "nobody is trying to copy Eminem" yet his nominee for best rapper alive (not even close) Kendrick has Eminem all in his DNA to the point where you got people complaining about funny voices and him doing too much "rippity rap" on features....nikka please.

It's one of the reasons why I'm trying to dead this conflating music industry conveyor belt product from Hip Hop.

I'm not too old school where I wanna remove the recording industry from the annuls of history but you gotta understand what you're dealing with, and this goes for Eminem too and how it's been used to prop him up for other reasons besides the fact that he is fukking nice...I mean look at this clown ass DJ.

Kanye is surely one of the most influential artists...if you think that Hip Hop is a genre of music then call it how you see it...but while there are some rappers who are musicians like Snoop for instance not all rappers, great or otherwise are musicians....Kanye and his fans speak of him as if he's not really a rapper and should be judged like MJ/Prince as pop stars, just do that then, same with Drake...just because he has achieved a relative level of fame utilizing the art of rap does NOT make him a great rapper...but you can't front on his impact on the psyche of the masses of amount of people listen to rap music...that should be a given.

He ain't great at it though. MJ could dance, Prince could sing and play instruments on a genius level, Eminem is an idiot savant when it comes to writing rhymes (raps)....Kante is more of a marketing genius than anything.

IF that's true I'd rather people compare him to Don Draper than Rakim.
