Verzuz showed again it's not really about "hits" like that, it's about that shyt that resonates, that brings back memories...just shyt you remember basically, lol. If you remember that shyt there's a nostalgia factor there, whether the song was Number 1 on the charts or charted at all doesn't necessarily matter. Was it on 106 and Park? Was it on the radio sometimes? Was it on a buzzin mixtape? If so, that shyt is gonna be felt. A lot of that shyt yall are calling "hits" that Ja did weren't really "hits" like that at all....we just remember them and they resonate....in real time we was probably switching the channel on them shyts, keep it a stack.

Salute to Rule, he outperformed the living shyt outta Fat Joe and didn't let Joe deter his objective which was girl song and sing him off the stage, lol, mission accomplished. Song for song idk and idc who "won", all I know is Verzuz wise, performance wise, all that...Fat Joe lost. Someone watching that who isn't familiar with either of their catalogs would say Joe lost too.

Huh? Ja was dropping straight pop hits

Joe was the one trying to go into his 90’s bag

? I didn't address that at all...it's not about time period alone, it's about familiarity. The reason "Flow Joe" fell so flat is because nobody knows that shyt, lol. The reason the Big L record fell so flat is because nobody knows that shyt. Etc... When I say "nobody" I mean the masses. Ja kept telling him "Nobody knows this shyt you playing". Lol, facts.

Where Fat Joe fukked up at is he tried to basically redo what the Lox did...the difference is the Lox were a fukking movement for real...just like the Dips. They can get that underground, gritty shyt off and it still resonate because we was really into and following them like that, we know that miscellaneous shyt too. Nobody was following Fat Joe, lol, the masses aint up on his super underground shyt like that outside maybe some ricans.

With Ja, you can check the charts, a lot of that shyt wasn't "hit records"....but we would see and hear it on 106 and Park and shyt like that...it was on the radio...etc... Familiarity. In real time we was calling that shyt ass, lol.

Ja got Joe up out of here.

There's really people on this board who said Fat Joe would have anything for Busta. :russ::russ::russ:

Fukk. No.

Man couldn't take the weight of club hits for the ladies from a 5/6 year window. Busta has hits dating back to the early 90's. He would have shot Rotund Joseph into the sun. :dead:

Hot 97 ain’t shyt y’all!:russ: They scared to give Ja his props! I mean I’m not a Ja fan but dude did good last night. The kids that grew up with him seemed happy with it. Ebro hates Ja. What happened to “New York won” and all that? They really gassed Flow Joe like others really mess with that and I love Flow Joe! They got Ja losing with Jay and DMX records and shyt:mjlol: This is why the shyt happened with music from up there. Ain’t Ebro the program director? I’m confused.

People trying to rewrite history.. 50 was coming

50 made Jay-Z retire. Just think about that..

Don’t forget this. All Murder INC CDs went from $11.99 to $2.99 when the Unit was done with them. Straight to the clearance rack.

Em found The Murder Inc corpse floating in the water and finished it off.

Joe should have realized that street shyt wasnt gonna do anything when he dropped Ante Up (he's not even on the song lol) and crowd went mild. Even My Lifestyle didnt resonate. That's when he should have reverted to some different type of songs.

But even that Joe is not on Ja's level. As an artist, he's C tier at best but he thinks he's higher, like he's really delusional about his body of work. He is on plenty of mainstream hits, has a great ear for beats but nobody checks for his verses, let's be real :
- Remy Man owns Lean Back
- Pun owns Twinz
- Ashanti owns What's luv
- Jada owns New York and My Lifestyle
- R Kelly owns We thuggin
And so on.

As a rapper, he simply does not have that many memorable verses. Like the only verses I really feel from him are
- Flow Joe
- My lifestyle
- We takin ova (and he's outshone by everbody but Birdman lol)
- The crackhouse (where he flipped the Rihanna Ella)
- Who got gunz (I got 7 mac 11)
And yesterday those kinda tracks were doing nothing considering the crowd :francis:

No disrespect to Fat Joe as he's an influential dude in hip hop and has been for 30 years but strictly as a rapper, he's way out of his league. Man should have battled 2Chainz :francis:

Ja got to shine but that singing shyt didnt really aged well. Still beat Joe easily though :russ:

The crazy thing is Ja's songs didn't even sound good either, but they were still bigger. He hit more with nostalgia. Put it On Me was probably the best performance/song that still sounded somewhat good. I'm Real without JLo was ehhhh...matter of fact, all of his JLo songs. Between Me & You was ehhh. Thug Lovin was trash. A Lot of Joe hit's weren't much better tho

Thinking back, I think Joe did change his strategies though. He didn't play Sh!t is Real...which is something he always performs. And it was actually closer than you would believe..more like 11-8 (12-9 if you count NY)

But that's just your opinion.
