This "reviews don't mean anything" notion is silly to me. Almost every film that has been trashed by critics did not end up getting a high grade from me. Transformers 2 and 3 and Green Lantern come to mind most recently.

Some people think it makes them intellectually superior to shun reviews and go against the masses.

I think it just makes dumb financial sense. I'm tired of dropping $20+ on garbage that they put no effort into.

I REALLY wanted to support After Earth too since it's a film starring black males in the lead roles and I'm a big pro-black type of person, but the movie was trash breh. I can't support that.

Next movies I'm interested in seeing are Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, Lone Ranger and Elysium.

Iron Man 3 was just decent to me, and I thought Star Trek Into Darkness was damn near perfect.

I did have my doubts of the director doing it.. watchmen was boring as fukk

watchmen barely had action thou... this is the complete opposite. seems like we're gonna get 300 non-stop action.. :salute:

Lone ranger has flop written all over it. Looks wack too, but to each they own.

The only critics I value are from my friends and the average consumer bc we share similar taste. I give professional critics no value none what so ever. The movies they praise I find to be trash.

I think the average consumers opinion is trash 75% of the time. If more people listened to critics the movie world would be a better place.

Consumers voted Transformers 3 as the 2nd best movie of 2011. It's probably one of the top 20 worst movies I've ever seen in my life. 2011 is the same year that Undefeated dropped, Moneyball, Drive, 50/50, Source Code, X-Men. Yet Transformers won with consumers.

Ironman 3 is one of the few times that the Rotten Tomatoes aggregate score got it wrong. There was so much wrong with that movie. It's funny because if you read the positive reviews the problems with the movie are spelt out in them. So not sure how it got the score it did.

Let's agree to disagree. If people listen to critics the only movies that would be made are period time dramas, and elitist pretentious intellectual bore. :shaq2:

not true.

The Avengers, the batman films, even the last two Fast and Furious flicks all got love from the critics

I agree.

I listened to them and went to go see The Master. I would have been better off watching paint dry for 2 hours. PTA's made 3 movies that I like a lot. So I was expecting more since the critics praised it.

Lincoln also fell flat to me. A good movie but not worthy of all that praise...unless it was only about the acting. And Warhorse? Thank god I rented that. It didn't deserve the 77% it got.

Also on the opposite end you have all of the Adam Sandler classics taking L's on there from whatever reviews they managed to scrounge up.

Most of these "spoiled" reviews have original ratings of B-, C+, and 3/5 on the reviewers own sites... so I'm still gonna be at that matinee
