There was a thread about humans in the 30th century and I responded to a post, then read thru the thread and wondered why I bothered. There is virtually zero intelligent discourse on that portion of this site..

On topic, I made a visit to Vegas earlier this year and just had to see the Hoover Dam. I marveled at how much of a drop from the top of the dam to the water below..turned out to be extremely relevant to climate change..

This was in 1983, when the Spillways were used.

Holy shyt, mods deleted all the comments in one thread that were caping for anti-women policies and saying Taliban superior to the West, but now I found a 2nd thread they haven't moderated yet.

This is their response to seeing the guys fall off the plane.

Then about the situation in general:

too many stupid people in the world man. desert communities are awful for this. they want grass in the fukking desert :mindblown: and all of the golf courses they build out require a lot of water to maintain.

desalinization sounds good in theory but it's bad for the environment too so it's like pick your poison. i need elon, branson and bezos to build space civilization so i can move.

Power by renewable energy and then fund research to develop new uses for the "brine" waste water.

I don't want to get too serious because I know the bolded may be partially in jest, but I think we still need to figure out a way to work towards solutions down here. If we can't figure things out, then I think we'll inevitably just carry our same baggage into outer space and onto other worlds.

I get why people want to life on Mars or other worlds. And I understand the idea of safe-guarding humanity by putting us onto multiple places in the galaxy. At the same time, I do think a lot of people look to this solution because they feel it's so shytty here. But I do think eventually that we'd just carry our problems with us into space, and I think the endeavor of improving our situation here is a worthy one.

I hope that didn't sound overly preachy. It wasn't my intention to be.

I think it's much more likely that we'll end up setting human civilization back far enough to make further space exploration moot than it is that we will develop sustainable/viable outposts. A lot of the things we will need to colonize space can and will also lead to the deterioration of life/humanity on earth.

You're misreading the comment breh, I was saying the anti-women and taliban-superior posts were in the OTHER thread, the one I didn't quote from.

That comment was just me quoting a bunch of ignorant shyt, like people saying that anyone actually working to oppose the Taliban or help develop the country is a "traitor to their people", as if all true Afghanis are pro-Taliban (even tho Taliban is Pakistani founded, funded, and directed).

what I said wasn't ignorant.

I never thought that something like this can happen in the United States :dwillhuh:

US Government underestimated growth and the changing environment.

They didn't expect Las Vegas to blow up so quickly, but because of Hoover/Post-WW2, it became a hot spot. Not to mention Arizona being populated, as the initial water allocation didn't, and still doesn't focus much on them (which is something Arizona wants to re-negotiate).

So add in so much growth, along with a drought, and the Southwest ain't looking so good for Water.

I've never actually looked in TLR. It is really filled with as many morons as people make it seem? I guess it has to be. Who the fukk can think climate change isn't real in 2021. Anyone over the age of 20 knows that it was NOT like this 20 years ago.
Go look at @smitty22 post history. Now imagine 1,000 smitty's all communicating with one another on a single board. That's basically what TLR is. :scust:
