New reality with climate change. This will be more common in the 2030s into the 2040s. There will be mass exits from the southwest as water becomes more more scarce. Places like Phoenix and Las Vegas will be abandoned as water scarcity and extreme heat makes life there unlivable. We are ever closer to the 2 degrees celsius which will have catastrophic ramifications and feedback loops. Mind you we are already at 1.5 degrees Celsius. 3 degrees is basically hell on Earth. Once all the arctic ice is gone shyt will hit the fan. 2050 is fukked. There is a lag in carbon emissions output to full impact on climate for several decades. The emissions we need to stop over the next decade will stop the damage in the 2080s and beyond. Basically our kids and grandkids will be living in that hell scape. :francis:
I'm only seeing this post now, but this is seriously the main reason I'm thinking about adopting instead of having children myself. I guess it's possible there could be some game changing technology, but I'm often inclined to think Millenials and Gen-Z are basically the last people born that won't have to directly be born into a pretty insane nightmare with the globe's climate.

Still this is only the beginning. We speak on all of this but we truly don’t fathom how bad this will all become.
I read a dope novel called Dry a couple years ago about the Colorado River running so short that California gets cut off entirely, and it's about how some people have to get out of there. It's a fun read, but scary, because the author based it on a some real life predictions.

:francis: and it's only gonna get worse, I tell everyone I know if your allowed to in your state learn to collect rain water, also store some water
Also, if anyone invests in the stock market, not to sound fukked up, but investing in companies that deal with fresh water, large scale desalination, etc, are probably good bets over the next 10+ years. Part of me hates the idea on making some side money off the misery of the world, but there are some companies that are doing some good things to really help out with the upcoming water problems, and if you can make some money in the process then I don't think it's a bad thing.

And TLR said that climate, change aint real. If it is so hot that planes on the ground cannot take off, then humanity cannot inhabit and settle in that environment. The American southwest is a whole deathtrap.
I've never actually looked in TLR. It is really filled with as many morons as people make it seem? I guess it has to be. Who the fukk can think climate change isn't real in 2021. Anyone over the age of 20 knows that it was NOT like this 20 years ago.

While the climate change is real, all this could be solved with EASY solutions.

There is far more water going to high-use cash crops in Cali (especially nut trees) and high-water crops that have no business being grown in a borderline desert (rice, alfalfa) than in all California homes combined.

And close to half of residential water use is for people's fukking laws.

We're seriously going to have a major water crisis cause of a few rich farmers growing shyt we don't even need and cause dumbass Americans are addicted to having a square of green shyt in front and back of their house.
