Question, and I'm not really trying to be a Debbie Downer or nothing...but do you really think it's getting better for black people here? Because in all honesty (and I wouldn't be dishonest to anyone on this board), I think it's getting worse.

There was a report that said that police sanction murders of black people were beginning to rival Jim Crow numbers. Black people are being gentrified out of major cities and pushed into the suburbs bringing the crime and destitution of those areas in those new areas. Black people still don't own anything of relative importance or control anything of relative importance (media, industries, political bases, businesses that actually benefit whole communities and can employ more than a handful of people) and it seems the rest of the young black American population that does have money just wants to be a part of the "white club" and separate themselves from the black community whenever they do make it. The rest could give less of a shyt simply because they haven't woken up from their slumber...or just don't want to.

I certainly see black Americans as becoming a non-factor (moreso) in the next couple of years...but that's besides the point. America in itself is a sinking ship riddled with trillions of dollars in debts that will never be paid off in our lifetimes, mired in almost a dozen military conflicts worldwide, all relative industries that were producing any real money have become outsourced or slowly becoming automated, and literally headed towards a social, economic, and political downward spiral. Who even knows if this country will even be relatively more than a glorified third world country when we're in our 60s and 70s...if America hasn't gotten itself in the next World War by then?

Frankly, I'm not trying to be the lone violinist on the Titanic playing a sad little tune happy to be on the boat that's plunging towards the deep sea.

I agree with investing in African countries and building closer ties to the continent. To me that is a common sense and uncontroversial position, unless a person is a c00n. That doesn't replace or supersede investing in our communities here and building closer ties to each other, though.

This is the sad truth. I strongly believe a united Africa offers the most potential for black people worldwide, but Africa has it's own problems that needs to be fixed by it's residents first. It can happen sooner than later though if more blacks worldwide push for it.

For my brehs looking at Nigeria...corruption and incompetence in the government is at a ridiculous level right now. It could possibly be turning around soon, but don't get your hopes up :mjcry:

Yeah, its going to take a few decades to properly develop social infrastructure and state identity formation.

GDP means nothing since the gains goes into rich elite bought for Western puppets.

A lot of idealism, ignorance and delusion in these types of threads.

Also, unless you are rich and can buy bonds, real estate, start a small business, etc or you plan to move there, "investing" is damn near impossible.

Lack of manufacturing, electricity, cable lines, people with bank accounts, absurdly high cross border/ postage fees and overused infrastructure (ports, road), just to name a few, all have to be resolved.

Yeah, IDK about being a non factor cause there's 40 million black people here. But yeah, our "influence" on politics will not be representative of our numbers :yeshrug: unless things change...

IMMIGRANT TETHERS
Aka Feudalism.......they need to move towards social capitalism with decentralized states

Rich expats and corrupt Africans rich off stealing commodities and/or aid money as they seclude themselves in lagos, accra, nairobi, etc is a bad thing
Alot of these African countries need to open up there economy more. With more economic freedom, equals better investments and growth. Look at Rwanda for example. One of the countries with the most economic freedom and its excelling in developments and growth and that is with little to no natural resources. Its already on it way to becoming a middle income country. And '94 wasn't far away. Mauritius is also doing well with their economic freedom. I hope Angola does the same thing. But first that Dos Santos a$$hole has to :camby:

Again...what solutions do you have?

You're A-1 when we need to talk about problems.

My solution: Game the system. Make the system work by beating them at their own game.
I have to imagine you either didn't get or ignored the thrust of what I was saying but lets leave it at that.

True

Intra African trade is less than 5 % of Africa's GDP as a continent

EAC looks promising. ECOWAS rejected the EPA. But, France, USA and Britain still has the rich, corrupt motherfukkers in pocket: Blaise Compaore being airlifted out of Burkina Faso by France.

Kagame is fueling war in DRC and though he has done some good, he rules via the military

Angola is an example of a country with absurd inequality

This thread is all over the place. The op was clearly talking about African Americans, American slave descendants, as in the bulk of Americas black population. Nikkas in here mentioning Nigeria and sht. Hell if your second generation African/west indian you would just rock with your respective countries. Theres a lot dudes that don't even have dogs in this fight in here:mjlol:
