The Deep State
CGP grey is great but cmon man that's entry level. A switch to AV wouldn't address scheduling trickery, gerrymandering and issues specific to individual state mechanisms. All electoral systems carry inherent flaws but the political, legislative and economic character that upholds these systems determines the extents to which they can be corrupted and manipulated. America is well behind most developed nations in their ability to mitigate this.

No modern system of government professing social mobility as an ideal has lived up to the wholesale, organic redistribution of power from where it is to where it isn't. To that end the notion that the privileged don't complain about their privilege is banal. Those with power don't cede it no matter what the underprivileged do. Most serious historians of civilizations and modern societies will tell you it's perfectly feasible that black people never achieve parity within American society as we know it. Not because of any flaws inherent to black people but because a 400 year handicap was not addressed and that ground cannot be made up.

The idea that the have-nots will ever be in a position to inflict their privilege on others is the snake-oil that keeps the American dream alight. That isn't an admission of defeat but it is a realistic appraisal of what black people face going forward.

Whether or not these problems are overblown they deserve to be talked about. And no shade to this place but if I were to have a serious conversation about how black people can use the political system to their benefit it wouldn't be on Sports, Hip hop and piff.

Again...what solutions do you have?

You're A-1 when we need to talk about problems.

My solution: Game the system. Make the system work by beating them at their own game.

This. The idea that blacks needed their own nation/government was an issue during colonialism when all of Africa was under European rule. After the 5th Pan African congress and Kwame Nkrumah became the 1st president of Ghana, the shift started happening.

It's 2014 now brehs, we have our own nations. Right now Nigeria (in my own opinion) is the shining star of Africa. You got cats like Aliko Dangote (richest black man on the planet) shipping concrete all over the continent. He also recently just donated 1.2 billion dollars from his own personal wealth to give small business loans to rural Nigerians and his foundation supports initiatives in education, health, and youth empowerment.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to invest money in Nigeria, but I'm not even sure where to begin. I'm gonna take a trip to Lagos very soon. More than likely that's where I'll be moving to (either there or Nairobi). Here's a picture of a Nigerian skyline (Lagos I believe)

Here's some Nigerian breezies chilling at the beach

And here's a picture of a Nigerian middle class neighborhood

Now if you're specifically talking about African Americans needing their own nation, I can agree with you, but I don't think our people is ready to give up their love affair with cacs. I'm 100% for blacks choosing to physically separate from whites, but I know I'm in the vast minority.

This post gave me a tear of joy....I'm Nigerian and I've been wanting to go see the place my dad was raised at...This just gave me a glimmer of hope for the future.

Unfortunately most of our people don't have the resources to just up and leave. If all of us left who were able to our people would really be fukked then

That is the case at the moment, but what about 5, 10, 20 years from now?

As for "leaving them stranded," I think most of us are realistic: most black Americans in the near future will be still be here. A few overall will leave. Those that stay better be prepared to sustain themselves as a group, rather than rely on outsiders for essentials and survival. As for the number of black folks leaving / heading back to Africa or elsewhere, you gotta start somewhere. What's important is that those that leave end up having a good, "successful" transition.

Keep in mind, many people across the world migrate and have migrated to different lands in the past. Moving, even at the magnitude we are talking about, is nothing new.

As a community we would be worse off if all the resources and positive role models left

Those African nations are so far from where they need to be.

Not really much Diasporans can do but wait for Africans to put in blood, sweat and tears.

This is the sad truth. I strongly believe a united Africa offers the most potential for black people worldwide, but Africa has it's own problems that needs to be fixed by it's residents first. It can happen sooner than later though if more blacks worldwide push for it.

For my brehs looking at Nigeria...corruption and incompetence in the government is at a ridiculous level right now. It could possibly be turning around soon, but don't get your hopes up :mjcry:

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
That's cool you gotta do whats best for you and I wish you luck. Im not gonna let anybody beat me. Im relatively successful and I plan to stay here and help my people rather than leave them stranded

We're second class citizens, you're already beaten, a cop could end your life tomorrow and he'll get a paid vacation for it, your character will get dragged through the mud without you here to defend yourself and people will just forget about it in time.

Success has nothing to do with it, spend some time in a majority black country, walk down the street get on a bus and go to a completely different side of town and feel what it's like not to be a minority anywhere in a country.

I had a thought. If many of those African countries are so corrupt why doesn't a rich black person take over one of those countries? S/He could leverage his/her wealth to control an African government (like how Bill Gates and other billionaires control US congress) and rapidly build infrastructure and what not. I guess the problem is that most rich black Americans are c00ns and uncle toms in the entertainment/sports industry and are only concerned with pleasing their white masters.
:stopitslime: you guess?

You know for a fact that's why. :beli:

Exactly and then those cacs neglected the shout outta Liberia.
just playing devils advocate but I would think liberia as an independent country shouldn't have to rely on other states to survive, it ain't the states or the British responsibility.
