Nah, first Terminator is classic and yeah the effects may look somewhat dated now but that flick was made nearly 40 years ago and it still holds up.

If anything this title goes to Quentin Tarantino.

@Remote but would you not agree that both Aliens and T2: Judgement Day changed the game? Legendary films that had huge impact both with the audience and behind the scenes.

That alone doesn’t allow the “overrated” label. Avatar shifted things in the industry back in 2009 as well, whether we all love it and remember the film or not.

I still SMH @ Hurt Locker winning the 2010 Oscars for Director and Best Picture instead of Avatar.

The only difference between Cameron and Bay is that Bay doesn’t have T2 and Aliens to fall back on in his resume.

Take out those 2 movies (which by the way are 30 and 40 years old) and his career looks lame given the actual quality.

He needs the rings to justify the "Curry changed the game" narrative. But i don't need to get into that. You are underselling the importance of T2 and Aliens.. they changed the game..

Titanic didn't... but it's also a classic. Classic run at the B.O. too..

And then Avatar.. i won't argue it "changed the game" because it's only a game that James Cameron is playing. The MCU can't play the Cameron game because they don't have the tools in their belt.

But that can also be a claim to fame for James Cameron because whether u love the Avatar movies or not.. you are NOT going to see the in-depth levels of cgi he's using in any other film.
