Cameron has 3-4 movies that are better than the best MCU movie.

What does this thread have to do with the MCU? Why did you bring it up twice when no one was talking about it?

James Cameron is great. No one was comparing him tothe MCU. The comparisons were to Spielberg an Scorsese.

With Aliens and Terminator 2 alone he's one of the best :wow:

Quentin Tarantino more overrated than James Cameron?

:why:

Yes

After all Cameron doesn't have his movies filled with the n-word and overly long weak cac dialogue because he thinks he's a great screenwriter like Tarantino does :mjpls:

Tarantino IS a great screenwriter though.

If there's a criticism I have about Tarantino's movies...by and large, it's that his movies follow a predictable pattern of great dialogue and cinematography and inevitably there will be violence. And often great misdirection. But still, it's a predictable pattern.

Yes, his love of the N-word is baffling. A person could defend its use in a scene or movie, but the fact that Tarantino has a history of it across a number of movies makes it a fair criticism.

But that doesn't mean his screenwriting isn't top tier.
James Cameron doesn't have anything...ever...even close to the opening 19 minutes of Inglorious Basterds.

And for all the talk about comparing Cameron to Tarantino or Scorcese or Spielberg....I'm not even convinced that Cameron is as good as David Fincher....who is routinely ignored by the average movie fan and has a far better and broader catalog.

If anything Scorsese is the one who is overrated. He found a formula thats works does it over and over in all of his movie.
you know exactly who is gonna be cast when one of movies comes out because he always uses the same actors and it;s likely gonna be about mafia type shyt.
Once i stopped liking mafia worship films, i had no other reason to watch his movies.

Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Cape Fear exist breh

I hate the phrase “overrated”

It’s such a cop out

If everyone very clearly love something, and you’re apart of a very small vocal minority that doesn’t… that says more about your opinion on that thing then it does the thing in question

“Overrated” is what people run to whenever they can’t identify with something that’s well received.

“I don’t like breaking bad, it’s overrated!!”

“The godfather is boring. It’s overrated!!”

“Bad bunny is shattering every live audience record but I don’t like his music. He’s overrated!”

Everything ain’t made for your personal enjoyment brehs. World is bigger than you. You don’t have to slap overrated allegations on everything people love that you for whatever reason don’t.

That phase kills me. Like how can’t you not see, why something is popular. I don’t like twilight, but I can see why people love it.

It’s because people inherently have a hard time seeing outside of themselves. It’s all ego and a weird superiority complex. They think their opinion is THEE opinion and anything opposing it is wrong

if 10 of my peers like this thing and I don’t, all 10 of them must be wrong. Clearly it’s not me. It’s them. They’re overrating whatever this thing is, I’m the one that’s right about it.

Brehs out here using the overrated argument when they realize that their criticism is just "I don't like it." Brehs gotta learn that it's okay to just not like shyt. Not abnormal at all.

However, we aren't about to slander True Lies in this thread, though. That is a fukkery classic, even if it's one of those "It was a different time," movies.
Let's actually keep it 100: is it the term or is it the fact that somebody used it on one of your favorite things?

Definitely the term because I don’t give a fukk about James Cameron, respectfully. He just a white guy that makes movies

I’ve just seen this same tired argument about everyone from Jay Z to Lebron James so I’m adding my two cents. It’s weak. Find better talking points other than “weLL I DoNt LiKe IT sO iTs OvERRAteD”
