That phase kills me. Like how can’t you not see, why something is popular. I don’t like twilight, but I can see why people love it.
It’s because people inherently have a hard time seeing outside of themselves. It’s all ego and a weird superiority complex. They think their opinion is THEE opinion and anything opposing it is wrong

if 10 of my peers like this thing and I don’t, all 10 of them must be wrong. Clearly it’s not me. It’s them. They’re overrating whatever this thing is, I’m the one that’s right about it.

It truly is baffling how a grown person cannot see the flaw in thinking that being well-received by the masses equals being great.

Let's just get to the root of this if you really want to go there.

Its more impressive that he has a smaller catalog than most, and still delivered some of the biggest franchises of all time. Titanic is legendary, both Terminators are classics and Avatar was years ahead of the game visually. By definition, he's not overrated. The praise he has earned comes rightfully so, considering he's pushed the bar every time he released a movie.

If anything Scorsese is the one who is overrated. He found a formula thats works does it over and over in all of his movie.
you know exactly who is gonna be cast when one of movies comes out because he always uses the same actors and it;s likely gonna be about mafia type shyt.
Once i stopped liking mafia worship films, i had no other reason to watch his movies.

Scorsese is far from overrated...You don't make high quality films for 5 decades and become overrated.

After Hours is different from The King of Comedy and that's different from Silence which is different from Wolf of Wall Street which is also different from Raging Bull.

He's got at least 4 undeniable classics in multiple decades...that's not overrated

And if you wanna talk about his actual direction of films, he was and is still seen as one of the most innovative in regards to world building and use of efx in films.

Comparing any director to Scorsese will have 99% of them coming up short but Cameron against the field certainly stands out.

agreed....OP smoking wax

“Overrated” is what people run to whenever they can’t identify with something that’s well received.

“I don’t like breaking bad, it’s overrated!!”

“The godfather is boring. It’s overrated!!”

“Bad bunny is shattering every live audience record but I don’t like his music. He’s overrated!”

Everything ain’t made for your personal enjoyment brehs. World is bigger than you. You don’t have to slap overrated allegations on everything people love that you for whatever reason don’t.

Brehs out here using the overrated argument when they realize that their criticism is just "I don't like it." Brehs gotta learn that it's okay to just not like shyt. Not abnormal at all.

However, we aren't about to slander True Lies in this thread, though. That is a fukkery classic, even if it's one of those "It was a different time," movies.

Big franchise doesn't mean great films.

What the hell is it about this guy that people flock to watch his movies?

Let me be brief.

This man's entire career comes down to two movies. Two.

Aliens (the 1st one only)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day

That's it. At least in terms of GREATNESS.

Everything else he's ever directed has one one big budget overrated piece of shyt after another.

Terminator 1? Yeah it's good. But it's clearly not in that elite tier. Like if you looked at Scorcese's catalog, it wouldn't be Goodfellas. It would be Cape Fear. Like, yeah people have seen it. It's good. But nobody really goes back and gives a shyt. That's what The Terminator is.
Stopped here.:camby:
