I must be out of the loop because I don't think I've heard anyone ever knock T1 down a peg due to the special effects. Is the scene where he fixes his eye very dated? Most definitely. Is T1 still a five-star classic? Absolutely.

I'd agree with you, but you obviously didn't read the OP if you claiming you've never heard anyone knock T1.

He's got at least 4 undeniable classics in multiple decades...that's not overrated

And if you wanna talk about his actual direction of films, he was and is still seen as one of the most innovative in regards to world building and use of efx in films.

Comparing any director to Scorsese will have 99% of them coming up short but Cameron against the field certainly stands out.

Compared to a lot of blockbusters, yes, he makes you care about the characters usually.

I didn't find myself caring for them any more than those in other blockbusters, but to each his own

If anything Scorsese is the one who is overrated. He found a formula thats works does it over and over in all of his movie.
you know exactly who is gonna be cast when one of movies comes out because he always uses the same actors and it;s likely gonna be about mafia type shyt.
Once i stopped liking mafia worship films, i had no other reason to watch his movies.
