One thing i noticed about that match was Lawler shytting on Brets mom:

I heard she went shopping in a antique shop and they kept her"

:russ::russ:
Lawler always had the smoke for Stu and Helen:russ:

"I know Stu's probably at home watching, in his orthopedic tuxedo-"
Vince: ":picard::damn:His orthopedic tuxedo?!"

I always thought it was bullshyt that rock only got to hold on to the title for like a month only to lose it to triple h again
Story of Rocks career...
And story of HHHs career..

I don't remember Rock ever having a substantial run as champ..
Won at survivor series 98, defended it at 1 ppv then lost it on a raw to Foley.
Won it at royal Rumble.. lost it again at that halftime empty arena shyt.
Won it back in a ladder match the same month.. lost it next month to stone cold.
Won it at backlash 2000, lost it right away at judgement day..

Won it no way out 2001.. lost it the next month at WrestleMania.

Won the coveted WCW belt.. lost it almost right away to fukking midget jericho

Made him look weak af:snoop:

I seriously hate HHH

HHH won that shyt back just so he could hold it for a month and lose it in a tag match without getting pinned :mjlol:

If they needed a selling point for KOR that bad they could just had Taker help Rock win at Judgement Day then tell Rock "You owe me:ufdup:" while HHH is pissed off, then do a triple threat at KOR, or throw Kane in the mix and make it a fatal four way. Have Kane take the L so HHH don't gotta get pinned three PPVs straight...but nahh, HHH had to get one more lil run in

shyt that mighta been what led to that 6-man tag match to begin with :mjlol: . Taker wasn't about to job his first match back, and they were still tryna book Kane strong at that point. That's where HHH comes in with the solution ":mjlit:How bout we do a tag match and throw Vince and Shane in, that way they can take the L.

:mjlit:But if we wanna build tension going into a weird match like that I should hold the belt for a month going in"

I fukks with Bret heavy but him being such a mark for himself fukked up a lot of shyt in the 90s

Only reason this shyt went 60 min with no pin falls was so Bret could technically say he didn’t lose the match :unimpressed:

There is an argument to be made that Bret was even more of a mark for himself than Hogan :unimpressed:

The pace of HBK/Bret was so so, and a lot of arm work Shawn did to Bret got blown off pretty bad by Bret, which in a match like that hurts considering it felt like wasted time. It picked up down the stretch, but much of the match comes off like Bret didn’t wanna put over Shawn’s matwork and it hurts the match as a whole.

Rock/HHH had the better pace, drama, layout and excitement. They kept you hooked for the majority of the match and outside of the botched finish, pretty much nailed what’s otherwise a really tough match type.

Bret was a straight up mark for himself

Never put stone cold over :unimpressed:

Never put Mr Perfect over :unimpressed:

Ruined WM 12 by having the match booked to be long as fukk with no pins just so he can say he technically didn’t lose :unimpressed:

Hogan was on some bullshyt too but he actually put people over from time to time. Bret was pissed at HBK for not wanting to give him his win back at the next Mania.

Bret rarely lost clean after he became a main eventer. And even the rare times he did he wanted his win back. :unimpressed:

Bret vs Shawn was finish only. The final 5 mins/overtime was beautiful storytelling. Didn’t feel as personal on camera as it was in real life at that time

The rest of the match made sense but was a chore to watch as a whole match

Hunter vs Rock felt like a knock down drag out fight. Like it felt like they hated one another as they did competitively at the time

I don’t see fans hype the Bret Shawn iron man match like that, it’s more so people in wrestling that think it’s classic
WWE kept trying to make it the best WM main event ever..today they finally crowned a new #1.
