That shyt looks impossible right now

I'm currently getting stomped out at castle soldraga
use those items and valor abilities fr. something like gravity is HUGE because you can slow an entire group of enemies. take them out the fight, set them up for catapults, or keep them in range of ballistas, etc. provoke is another huge ability. alain's ability that guarantees first strike for all friendlies in the area is a big too.

find your matchups early on. certain units/combos are straight up dice roll dependent - know when you're gambling and preview.

make use of terrain wherever possible and as quickly as possible. you *need* one flier squad if for no other reason than to take out watchtowers/siege weapons right away. i have a cavalry squad too that's just for speed.

soldraga can be rough if you just tackle it straight on because the stamina drain isn't even manageable. the vast majority of the enemies i killed there were never done in by direct combat

About an hour in and yeah it's kind of weird. They throw a bunch of things at you which has you like wtf but a lot of it is basic things if your familiar with these types of games

I can already tell it's my wave tho. That timer seems annoying but I can see it building tension

I cleared it last night but it took 3 tries (each try was like a hour a piece too, fukk :mjlol:)

My problem is I went in without a lot of revive items and refused to go get them

But yeah, your strat is similar to what I ended up doing, started with 2 flyers to get the watchtowers/catapults, used the catapult to kill the other catapult, used the rest of the shots on the bosses to stop them from spawning enemies to recover (that was the definitive lifesaver for me)

It felt like I didn't gain much valor during it so I didn't use them as much other than to heal up, but my alain squad I used to kill the stage boss I couldn't even touch without his valor ability of doing +20% more damage and taking -20% less damage since it was a bad matchup I guess. After weakening them with 2 rounds of that he was able to kill straight up. shyt was crazy.

You really get a feeling of this shyt being a real war on marathon maps like that, sheesh

some of the units have stuff they're really, really good at - but they're not advertised for that particular thing

just an example, the thief is the first dodge tank you get. but it gets outclassed and overpowered very early on. why is still good? poison is situational and good on fights you don't need to 'win', but only steal a victory with. but passive steal is HUGE

a lot of these bosses or complex enemies can only cook when they get those passives off. i also gave my thief the accessory that halves their damage but gives them extra AP as a tradeoff. you can go further by switching up some of the conditions like "prioritize enemies with >1 AP" "highest HP" etc... but that's my go to in counter/follow-up based teams.

there's other debuffs and combinations that are nasty as hell too

The game gives you a false sense of security when you get B renown because they let you run shyt with promoted units in drakenhold but as soon as they start promoting units in Elheim shyt heat right back up :mjlol:

nikkas giving me straight hell :dead:

I was going around cornia doing side missions before rescuing Scarlett. Once I got to enemy units with shamans I understood what yall have been talking about :russ:

I brute forced the mission they were on with arrow rain and a bunch of items and immediately hired one at the fort

And it's really cool that you actually need to frequently tinker with the priority and targets on skill activations and attacks. Just letting that stuff sit on the starting configuration can halve your units effectiveness or even lose you battles outright

Yeah I'm in to this shyt. Played 3 hours this morning stopped to get breakfest and immediately thought of a new tweak to my composition to better optimize it. How many total units yall be running? Seems hard to get a bunch of groups exp. I feel like you need a tight group of 3-4 units.

I left clive as default and he kept column attacking for whatever reason and I thought he was okay. I switched some shyt off and he became a reset bot. Just 1 shotting trash and getting AP back.

I ran about 6-8. One group just for collecting treasure, 3-4 for main squad and the rest for support.

you definitely need at least one dedicated archer squad. it doesn't need to be all archers or anything, but its gotta be quick to enough to get to watchtowers

being able to switch up equipment and team comps during a mission has been huge though.

yeah the column attack is good hitting and stunning backlines. but because cavalry just runs through infantry in some sections, the other attack is great for just churning out attacks. little stuff like "only full column"/ "prioritize lowest hp"/ "hp <50%" on it lets you get the most out of both if you set it up right.

My witch casts it on alain/berenice and it absolutely obiliterates thieves and flying units that are hard to hit

It's a direct counter

Anything with parry/deflect eats that shyt tho
there's a items that buff damage and crit at the cost of something insane like -50 accuracy. other abilities that just have a naturally low hit chance. some attacks refund AP just for connecting

means nothing when you hit every time :francis: rebuilding my teams now because im a dummy
