Going back to Khamzat. I think this is more proof why it’s better to not rush a prospect too fast.

Boxing always gets criticized for the way it brings up its top contenders but this is another example of why you can’t rush someone to the top. The UFC is so money hungry it doesn’t know how to build up fighters.

You get a few good K.O.s and they throw you to the sharks.

In Khamzats case it’s not that he doesnt have the skills, but when the attention was on him he couldn’t handle it. The spotlight was too bright to make him fight a Diaz brother. All the hype that came with it.

Edwards was an experienced vet and knew how to handle the situation and kept calm.

I’m not saying they lied about his weight just that they told khimzat to stop cutting so he can face holland at catch weight with Nate refusing to fight

yeah i can buy that. didn't seem like khamzat was even trying to make weight. and just by sheer coincidence a catch-weight fight was recently added to the card. pretty convenient.

so instead of having a fight no one even really wanted to see, we get this drama-filled, last-minute turnaround into tony/nate (a fight people have been wanting for years) and the ufc gets to match kham up with someone who he can out-grapple and keep the hype train going.
