I haven't seen much Perry stuff, but I haven't seen anything c00nish. Most of them try at least to have an uplifting message. He appeals to church-going folk he's not making Soul Plane sequels.

I wonder how many people shytting on Perry say a damned word about the Wayans brothers or Ice Cube?

I've said it once and I'll say it again..

He's a shyt film director who hasn't improved in any aspect of what he does [the guy has made over 40 productions/features under his name]. His writing his sh-t, his characters are almost all one dimensional rehashed stereotypes [and his movies happen to have every one of them from the jezebel to the black buck.] He presents black issues and solutions in a dishonest sensationalized way. and a good number of his films are filled with colorism....He just sprinkes his Christian preachy nonsense over his bullshyt.

If you don't think his movies are c00nish you don't know what c00ning is or what it looks like.

How is making a movie with a white cast c00ning?

25th Hour is one of the best movies of the past decade. It has more cinematic substance in the credits than all of TP''s movies combined.

Let me know when Spike fires a team of black writers who helped make him a shytload of money because they ask for a raise.

I've watched 2 of his movies so I can't comment on the quality but typically they do numbers. I don't know it just seems like when a brother makes it to the top others look for a reason to shyt on them. It's like people have their c00n insults at the ready for anybody that makes it to Tyler Perry's level.

I was under the impression that "reverse racism" is racism in response to racism. If he's making a white show and there's a negative response to that then that's not reverse racism. If he wants to call it anything he should just call it racism.

Reverse racism is just a term used to deflect from real racism. Blacks criticizing Perry for creating an all-white show isn't racism and it's c00n shyt for him to say that it is. I don't have a problem with him creating the show and I also don't have a problem with blacks who've supported him disagreeing with him making the show. He's only as successful as he is because of the black community so he needs to listen to their complaints(I've never supported him). If the show flops then he should blame whites for not watching, not blacks.

I think Perry shouldn't have used the word "reverse racism", but outside of that, I think what he's said is legit. People do go batshyt crazy whenever he makes movies outside of his main schtick but they also complain about him doing the same old thing. He really can't win.

Most of y'all have probably never seen a Tyler Perry movie.

Outside of his Madea films, which usually are more light-hearted, he makes movies about serious issues. He just throws in comedic elements to make it more digestible. I've never once watched a Tyler Perry film and felt like it was c00nery. If you think his stuff isn't good that's fine, but it's lazy and inaccurate to say that he's producing minstrel show type pictures.

Madea is a straight caricature, a throwback to the minstrel shows. There is nothing positive or uplifting about Madea at all. It's the epitome of negative stereotype - a gun toting, jive talkin, fool slapping, dancing, watermelon & chicken eating, ignorant and seemingly uneducated to the world, outside of the church. It's not like Eddie as Momma Klump or Martin as Big Momma, who are comedic takes on the grandma. As for 90% of the rest of his films, the black man is the villain. Even most of his women characters are portrayed as weak in throughout the films. In fact, the strongest character is Madea, and Madea is the anti-Hattie McDaniel Mammy.

As for Lee Daniels, Empire is nothing but negativity. There's nothing wrong if you watch those shows, I'm just like accept them for what they are. My problem is that people complain about positive blacks on TV, and there are far less now than there were in 80's/early 90's TV.

I guess the question is why can't Madea exist as some sort of comic relief without being criticized? I get the feeling Madea is an exaggerated parody of how some grouchy old people act and that the character isn't meant to be taken seriously. I also don't think the majority of the characters in those films behave the way she does. I saw one of his movies a long time ago called Why Did I Get Married and there were no characters like Madea in it from what I can remember.

Again I'm not an expert on his movies as I've only seen Diary of a Mad Black Woman and the other one I said but from the outside it seems like people wanna strap Madea as all he does. I look at that character as absurdist humor not as him trying to portray that is the gold media standard for how black people behave. It's like Waldo from Family Matters. Dude was a straight up buffoon that existed for comic relief purposes. Is Waldo called a c00n or the actor that played him? What about Cole from Martin? Some of these characters are just idiots you're supposed to laugh at and aren't intended to be social commentary.
