snoop was a more memorable character at the time, someone whose appearance and mannerisms made him stand out in a way tupac didn’t, becoming a brand unto himself.

but, from a musical standpoint, pac was more popular.

:francis:

snoop was "huggy bear" ... the side man.

never taking the front.

he may have been the “side man,” but his appearance - tall and gangly, with a unique face - turned him into an icon. snoop became a brand off his physical features more than his music.

and pac was pushed by hollywood glitterati and on the cover of rolling stones, time.

across the world more people will know of pac than snoop.

lucas wanted tupac to play windu in star wars ...

progress in his murder case just made headline news across the world.

dead tupac STILL outsells living snoop :hubie:

"The discography of American rapper Tupac Shakur consists of 11 studio albums. Throughout his career and posthumously, Shakur sold more than 75 million records worldwide.[1][2] He has scored 5 No. 1 albums on Billboard 200 and 8 No. 1 albums on Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums.[3] In 2001, Guinness World Records hailed him as the then Best-selling artist of rap in the US.[4] According to Recording Industry Association of America, he has sold 55.3 million albums and an additional 4 million under his alias Makaveli with "The Don Killuminati", making him the second best-selling hip-hop artist in history.[5]"

ay og's pmo,

Snoop was big like that?

Always looked at him as pac lil homie
Yeah Doggystyle had the hoods going crazy in 93/94.

Pac really went nuclear in popularity with All Eyes on Me in 95. California Love single/video shut the industry down. Nobody was touching that. shyt hit like a blockbuster film.

That’s cute but in 93-94 Snoop Doggy Dogg was the face of Gangsta Rap and West Coast Rap being at the forefront

Agreed.

But I remember when Snoop, even as he was creating one of the most dynamic moments could barely look at the camera lol. Him being more famous is a given for anybody who was actually around, but by his own admission, Pac was a star already and had to bubble on his own without being associated with the previous faces of gangsta rap.

Oh the nikka was shy but it played into the laid back Slick Rick 2.0 thing. 2Pac was always boisterous and front & center even on the come up
