Twitter debate over who was the bigger star: Snoop Doggy Dogg or 2pac?

From '92-'94 Snoop Doggy Dogg was Hip-Hop's biggest superstar. His features on The Chronic, Doggystyle, and Murder Was The Case Soundtrack (along with his murder trial) cemented him as the biggest star during that period.

I wasn't even alive then but looking back at old footage, clips, interviews, etc pretty much says it all.

Tupac didn't become a star until '96 after he was bailed out from prison and signing with Death Row. Death Row made him a superstar.

Tupac was in movies tho

I just checked when Juice came out and it was released in 92

It depends on the year.

1994 and before, it was Snoop. From 95-96 it was 2pac. If we're talking overall, it's obviously not a fair comparison.

Even with the movies Pac was not bigger than Snoop between '92 and '94. It wasn't until late '95 and much of '96 onward that he became a superstar. Ice Cube was already a superstar by the time he starred in his first movie.

snoop was a more memorable character at the time, someone whose appearance and mannerisms made him stand out in a way tupac didn’t, becoming a brand unto himself.

i don't even think 2pac is that great of a rapper but snoop has never been a star on his level.

2pac has the film star looks and was being pushed by mainstream america.

he has appeared on the cover of time, rolling stone and was being pushed for hollywood stardom.

suge head hunted pac to be the star at death row BECAUSE he had the star power that snoop and 'em lacked.
