The Edge/Angle cage match from SD has the weirdest booking. I don't think I've seen a cage match where the heel clearly and cleanly won, but another face screwed him and threw him back into the ring to continue the match. And then prevented him from leaving 2 more times, after he had already won. Edge's win came after losing cleanly and then having Hogan prevent Kurt from leaving twice more :dwillhuh:

HHH's face run in 2002 is :rudy: as hell. Just completely ill fitting and flat. Dude couldn't turn heel fast enough. Doesn't help that he was so gassed up and slow. He was never a good face and he didn't DO anything to turn face other than return from an injury. He was still basically 2001 HHH but his 10-15 minute promos were directed at heels and occasionally he'd do babyface selling but mostly also still wrestled like a heel which really didn't work when guys were supposed to be getting heat on him. Somehow they let that go on over half the year, too.

In some ways it was a sign of the DX reunion era to come. I'm out here dying for the death reign to begin to get away from his boring ass face shyt.

Jericho goes from beating Austin and Rock in the same night to become the first ever Undisputed Champion (both with shenanigans, of course), to beating Rock at the Rumble (with shenanigans, of course) to beating Austin at NWO (with shenanigans, of course) to main eventing WM....to 3 months later having to cheat to beat THE BIG VALBOWSKI in a KOTR first round match that Val had two visual pins on him. :mjlol:

That's a sign that he didn't get over as a true top guy.

KOTR 2002 is a weird show. Crowd is just not into shyt no matter how hard the talent is working, but also everything feels loooong as hell. But man Jerry Lawler was such a fukking perv on this show. During the Hurricane/Noble match, he is constantly talking about how hot he finds Nidia and all the things he wants to and all that shyt. JR says she's old enough to be his daughter, to which King says "You say that like it's a bad thing". Later on he says she's old enough to be his GRANDdaughter and he makes another creepy ass comment about it as they joke about Uncle Jerry liking them young.

Then later during the women's match, he spends a significant chunk just rambling about going to porn stores and sex toys and asking JR if he's ever worn a thong. During Angle/Hogan, he randomly makes jokes about Hogan's dikk no longer working.

:francis:

Make jokes about liking them young when you've been accused of raping under aged girls, brehs

Philly. Fucc a Eagle. I mean dat.
Yo for what it’s worth, Mike did his damn thing on the road to Wrestlemania 14. Didn’t seem out of place, disinterested, awkward at all. Like he deadass enjoyed every second of it. I’m sure he’s come out and confirmed that but I’m rewatching 1998 on the network and I had to post that.

It's fascinating at how shytty and lazy Jericho's Undisputed run was both in his personal booking but the booking of the title itself is compared to how much thought and planning was put into the brief period of when the Undisputed Champion was working across both brands.

Jericho's run is the standard "feud with this guy for a month, drop it after the match, feud with the next guy" run. The April-August run has the champ running feuds on two shows where the secondary challenger is set up a month or more in advance, as well as doing mini feuds with lower card guys on each show. And due to the nature of the main challenger alternating brands each month, there weren't automatic rematches and therefore there was a running theme of the former champ and next contender having number one contender matches and former champs getting their return matches not against the guy they lost the title to, but the guy who beat the guy that beat them.

Really wish they could have kept up the single champion touring both brands deal for longer because there was so much more thought and effort and planning to set challengers up a month or two in advance and the champion going to both brands really felt like a real touring champion in a way that has never been replicated in WWE since.
