Keep watching all the way into 1999 fingerpoke
99.9 percent of every main event is a fukking nWO run in / dQ
:gucci:
I just finished that whole era
Most of it makes no sense after a while

Little things like black n white vs red n black
SCOTT HALL is randomly on nwo black n white but wears red and black wolfpack trunks most.of the time against the wolfpack
:mjlol::mjlol:

Sting joining any incarnation of the nwo made no sense at all..he just spent over a year fighting all of the same dudes hes now pals with

:mjlol::mjlol:

Bret hart disappearing and silently separating from.the nwo before the 1999 elite faction begins.
As if he wasnt just with them all of 1998.
Same with Savage
The main event scene of WCW in 98 was awful and made no sense at all.

They brought in Bret Hart hot off the screwjob and did nothing with him. Sting being NWO anything and being on a team with Hall and Nash was dumb as fukk. Nash was a 43 year old greying whigger coming out to some g-funk jingle with “K-Dog” and Lex Luger looking awkward. You couldn’t keep track of who was in what NWO faction or another from one week to another. The Giant went NWO then back to WCW then NWO again. Dusty fukking Rhodes in the NWO. Bums like Buffy the Ratings Slayer Bagwell in the NWO.

They still had some excellent matches on their undercards though with Benoit, Booker T, Jericho, Saturn, Ultimo Dragon, Malenko, Juventud, DDP, Steiner, Guerrero, etc...and Goldberg of course.

The main event scene was absolute trash compared to the WWF at the time though.

I know we're shytting on WCW in this thread, but I'm watching 1999 WWF right now and holy shyt I forgot how awful some of this shyt was.

Basically, if it didn't involve Austin, Rock, or Mankind, it was probably awful at some point. Not even gonna get into the whole Higher Power angle (which would legit be considered for the "Worst Booked Angle Ever" accolade more if not for the Invasion), but this fukking Triple H push...

Let's take the least over part of DX, a guy who has never truly gotten over anywhere (jobber in WCW, not over as heel blueblood Hunter Hearst Helmsley, leeched Shawn Michaels's and Chyna's heat in the original DX, and leeched Chyna and the New Age Outlaws's heat in the DX army), and just jam him into the main event scene with Austin, Rock, and Foley (you know, guys who have actually gotten over everywhere they've gone on their own) apropos of nothing. They do this despite him never really showing anything in the ring or on the mic that would peg him as a future main eventer, and having been far surpassed by The Rock as an overall wrestler by that point despite Rock only having 3 real years of experience (Rock was very much still rounding into form as a worker, but was so great at just about everything else that he still became the #2 guy in the company). God damn, watching the beginnings of every bad Triple H trope in 99 makes me realize why I didn't actually start mainly watching WWF television until after Jericho, Benoit, Guerrero and company made the jump. Even 11 year old me realized that the 1999 WCW tire fire was more entertaining than watching this push.

Speaking of dx

Road dogg and xpac were like the nwo.B team still clinging around when everyone else moved on and nwo was over

By spring/ summer 2000 All dx shyt was dead and they are so behind everything still using dx theme and attire
Xpac changed his song and attire like a year late

:mjlol::mjlol:

And his friendship with HHH had him still.beating people for some reason as he enters to go away heat

DX was one of the weakest stables without HBK, honestly. Who in DX scares you? Triple H was the only above average worker in the group (X-Pac was aight but he was a small guy with the most non-threatening look in the WWF so he couldn’t be taken too seriously).

I was looking at Fully Loaded 98 and the New Age Outlaws run down on Kane and Mankind and go toe to toe with them and have to be separated by a bunch of refs and I’m like :comeon:

This motherfukker Kane got right back up from a Vader bomb, kicked out of 2 tombstones, physically decimated the Undertaker on numerous occasions, and was 7 ft. 300+ lbs. and the most unstoppable force in the WWF, but he’s trading blows evenly with the Road Dogg. :beli:

I guess being Triple H’s friend and having a good promo game gets you a long way.

Warrior comes out with black face paint and a hat on. Jerry Lawler's face that entire time is :dwillhuh:

Why the fukk was this fool in a hat? Segment was trash :mjlol:

Lawler is a dope artist though.

Side note, anything from 1996 with Sunny in it is instant watch

:stopitslime:HHH was over as fukk in 98 breh and was constantly in the upper card. They had the two hottest babyfaces in history at the exact same time but no heels. Why would they not push him? Yeah he had a weird few month transition period but dude was certified by the time October came around

No, the DX act was over, the Outlaws were ridiculously over, and Triple H happened to be a part of the act and aligned with the Outlaws. Go back and watch the 1998 and 1999 Raws leading up to WrestleMania XV; the whole narrative Hunter being this mega over guy on the level of Rock, Folet, Taker, etc. is a falsehood. That's not to say he did nothing, or wasn't a great upper mid-card guy, but he was nowhere near ready for his main event push in any fashion when it happened.

Thing is, they just repeatedly put him in over stables to mask this:

-Not getting over to the desired level as King of the Ring in 1997? We'll placate Shawn (who complained repeatedly about initially being paired with Rick Rude instead of Hunter) and stick Hunter with a hot heel.

-Need to replace said heat after Shawn's injury? The Outlaws are getting over as a tag team act, put them in DX with Hunter as leader.

-His face act is waning? Turn him heel and stick him in the top heel stable in the company, which will eventually morph into his stable when Rock turns face, Taker starts changing his gimmick and eventually takes an injury leave, and Hunter's the only "main event" guy left on the heel side.

-Still not over after putting him over The Rock a few times? Have him beat Austin Foley for the WWF Title (Austin, not being an idiot, refused to drop the belt to Hunter, partially because he wasn't over at a main event level), beat everyone else during the last quarter of the year, and fake rape and marry the boss's daughter.

Dude didn't get over to the desired level until Foley killed himself twice for the cause. Don't tell me this guy was ever organically over the way guys like Austin, Rock, Foley, Taker, etc. were organically over.

And yeah, they had a dearth of heels. But Jericho was RIGHT THERE to be pushed if not for a bunch of minor bullshyt regarding his work style holding him back. Big Show was RIGHT THERE if they hadn't rendered him ineffective within 3 months of his debut. Benoit was having main event matches from the literal moment he arrived in the company. Don't tell me they didn't have other options.

I've been saying forever that the Attitude Era was trash outside of Rock/Austin/Foley with occasional good mid card stuff like X-Pac vs D'Lo feud. But I'm an old hater when I point that out :mjlol:

Even when you had quality talents on paper, TV matches were 2 minutes and every one had multiple run ins. Like 80% of shyt on Raw never even made it to PPVs anyway.
