I’m in for whatever. I was gonna say watch party Raw is Owen because of the Owen topic, but that may be asking a lot of TSC emotionally.Im down, bout to go run & get something to drink but i'd be up for something around 9est

I was hoping we’d do Raw is Owen next Wednesday or Thursday for our weekly slot. We can do a doubleheader or Raw is Owen and then the next day, Higher Power episode. We gonna need something to pick us back up after RIOToo much stuff on this weekend breh
This should be its own thread. Make it brehThe greatest con Paul E ever pulled was convincing the world that he made ECW out of nobodies and misfit toys instead of the reality of building ECW on the backs of established talents and other companies all the way through.
1993-1994: Pretty much entirely built on the backs of Eddie Gilbert and especially Terry Funk. Eddie obviously being the booker and established star on WWF, JCP/WCW, Mid South, and Memphis television for about a decade. Terry da gawd and undeniable legend of the game. To help them was a constant stream of 70s/80s WWF stars like Snuka, Muraco, Ivan Koloff, random jobbers from the early 80s. You also had frequent random one offs like Jim Neidhart or Jim Powers or even Stan Hansen. Then after Eddie left the company and Paul fully took over the reigns, they got Shane Douglas, who was coming off years on both WCW and WWF TV including having just been in a successful and popular championship tag team with Ricky Steamboat. With him came Sherri Martel and then Mr. Hughes, fresh off a feud with The Undertaker.
In mid 1994, with the NWA Championship tournament running, they got 2 Cold Scorpio and Ron Simmons fresh off successful WCW runs, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko who were established stars in Japan and Mexico and had both been on WCW TV and PPVs. Along with this they entered into some kind of working relationship with WCW, having Arn Anderson, Bobby Eaton, Cactus Jack, Kevin Sullivan (who was also there at the beginning) and Brian Pillman all come in for big shows over a few month period. Cactus would leave WCW all together and join ECW full time. Tully Blanchard would come in for a few shots to continue this one sided Shane Douglas/Ric Flair feud. More randoms who had just been fired from either WCW or WWF would pop in for a weekend.
The start of 1995 saw the debut of Raven, hyped up for a few weeks under all his gimmicks, this guy having been on national TV pretty much weekly for the prior 3 years or so, and working in the WWF office and calling shows with Vince himself. And it just continues from there all the way to the end. The only times ECW was built around original talent was at the very end when everyone had left and they couldn't pay anyone, and a brief stretch after Eddie Gilbert left and Paul was reorganizing.
Any reason why the Network doesn't have any Memphis wrestling up?
I figured Lawler would've owned the rights and would be happy to sell to library to WWE.
This might spin off into its own thread so I don't want to get too in depth, but the Raven/Dreamer feud is actually the WORST of all the major ECW feuds. It's fukking stupid and nonsensical. It's also completely forced from day one and doesn't have the organic feel or natural progression that got other people and angles over. Mikey Whipwreck's journey from straight jobber to loveable loser to manning up and becoming a quality talent who could compete with the best >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Raven vs Dreamer's hokey nonsense
