-Mic work/promos - 7

He had good promos in ECW. Passable in WWE even if most of them were just cool, dude, etc. His most memorable promo for me being the one he cut at ECW One Night Stand 2005 basically saying as much. The ones where he riffed on HHH's gimmick from 2002 that were posted are also fun. Not too many outright memorable ones for me but nothing flat out terrible to rank him 5 or something. 7 seems right for me.

-Personality/Gimmicks - 8
Calm, cool, collected. One of the few guys who didn't have to be a charicature, or over the top to become wildly popular. That's not who or what RVD was. If anything his cool demeanor was his appeal. He didn't yell, scream, was rarely angry. He was a nickname generator at a point too with how many cool ones he had.

Ring Work (Along with some of your favorite matches/feuds) - 7

Very innovative and entertaining to watch. Crazy athletic. His ECW run is the stuff of legend in terms of what he could pull off in the ring. Loved his matches with Bigelow as well as his stuff with Sabu. That tag match where they fought Hayabusa and Jinsei Shinzaki is always a fun watch. His series with Lynn was cool if not totally for me. His WWF/E career never really went as well as it could or should've so I don't think his list of classics is as high as it could've been otherwise since he was basically "just there" post HHH feud - pre ECW resurrection. Plus like someone else mentioned he just rested on his laurels early on and didn't really deviate from his formula often. Among my favorite WWF/E matches of his, off hand the RAW match with Shawn Michaels, Vengeance 2006 with Edge, inVasion against Jeff Hardy as well as the Summerslam ladder match, the ONS match with Cena, some of his matches with Eddy. His 2013 return produced a few good matches with Del Rio. His TNA run is largely forgettable despite a World Title run, although I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the Hardcore Justice match with Sabu.

Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) - 7

Had his WWF/E run had more to it I could bump this up. But his career largely just stagnated for like 4 or 5 years, and even that shot in the arm he had in 2006 was way too brief (mostly due to his own doing). He had very few discernible feuds or rivalries to look back on despite multiple midcard and tag title reigns, and repetitious matches knocked him down. His TNA run was largely blah although I enjoyed the Sabu match like I said and I didn't hate his time in the X Divison. His ECW run is legendary and where most of the rating comes from.

5 for mic work. I give gim a 5 and not lower because he didn't extend himself beyond his means usually.

8 for ring work. This is a hard category, there arent many RVD matches that were really great to me. At the same time, he was always fun to watch in the ring and over strictly because of his in ring skills.

7 for star quality. He came off as a legitimately cool, laid back dude, and stayed over because of that and his in ring skills.

Ill give him an 8 overall because he stayed very over with no storylines or winning. Thats impressive. Imo he was used pretty well in his 02-04 Raw run, he had consistently interesting midcard matches with good opponents like Booker, Kane, Orton.

Just because hes over doesnt mean he should main event. RVDs perfect for the midcard because he doesnt need mic time or a storyline for the fans to be really into his segment.

gave him a nine because he was my favorite wrestler for a long time. never had elite mic skills but his charisma was through the roof. his in ring work has always been decent to top tier innovative. his work with jerry lynn is legendary. the fact he got over to a decent level transitioning to wwe was impressive. his tv title reign in ecw was legendary. he's never gonna be ric flair/savage level, but he set standards that were completely unique to his skill set. i still mark for rvd getting ganj references over in the 90s and 00s. 9 for me. wouldn't blame anyone for giving him a lower mark.

-Mic work/promos 3. Not known for his mic work at all.

-Personality/gimmicks 8. I liked his personalty. Laid back stoner type going out to kick ass and do nice spots. It worked.

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)Hit or miss but his style didnt require too much. SO what he did, he did well.

Some cool ECW classics under his belt. His feud with Lynn is legendary. Also remember a nice bout with him and Jeff Hardy too.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores) 8.
