Mic work/promos
2 - trash on the mic. that's fine, not everyone can be great, but he was best with Bill Alfonso in ECW. He needed someone talking for him and he could just chime in with random one liners.

-Personality/gimmicks
9 - Great nicknames, great catch phrases, seemed cool as fukk as a kid. I remember not getting ECW as a kid but from what I heard and saw he seemed like a non fakkity version of Shawn Michaels

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
7 - He was an innovator as some have said, he brought stuff nobody has ever seen or done since, but he also rested on his laurels way too early into his career and stopped innovating and went to the same formula every single match.

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)
7 - Innovator, cool character, can't deny his overness over such a long period of time. Not a top star, but didn't feel out of place with the top stars.

Now, he's a 7 in my eyes. But if we're grading on whatever sliding scale ya'll bums used to rank CM Chump an average of 8, then RVD is a got damn 10. :dahell:

It's all about your own personal scale. Don't worry too much about the average overall scores. :manny:

RVD was funny as hell on the mic and always was entertaining. Not everybody has to have catch phrases and long 20 minute promos to be good. He's being Waaaayyyyyyy underrated on Promos. You can tell who watched ECW from that.

Post one BAD RVD PROMO in the thread, I dare any of you nikkas!!!!!!!!!! I dare you!!!!!!!!

Mic work/promos
no memorable promos whatsoever but on the other hand i dont remember him being a fukk up or not on the mic :heh:..

wait wait..i do remember this

gotdamn you can see the legit jealousy and the bytchassness in HHH..hilarious

-Personality/gimmicks
looked like jean claude van damme and fought like him,..was over as fukk without having to do anything extra

-Ring work (along with some of your favorite matches/feuds)
i enjoyed his matches and he innovated a good share of moves....hell of an aerial wrestler..although his moveset at times could get repetitive and spot monkey-ish...rvd vs cena at one night stand was just classic as fukk

-Overall rating (which doesn't have to be an average of the above scores)
RVD is a strong 8-9...with more memorable mic work he would be higher..but someone like him managed to get massive over by taking a minimalist approach to his gimmick while putting in work in the ring..even today he gets a big pop whenever he makes one off appearances here and there

I blame him for a lot for the indie style being what it became, so that puts him very low for me. He never had a match with any substance, and his whole thing was basically "lolspotsdude". Poor promo even at his best of times. Did have a coolness to him that can't be denied, and he could do some physically impressive things.

He was perfect if you were like 10-15 during 1999-2003. Outside of that time and that age frame, there are few guys I want to see less. I'd give him a 5.

He is a above average wrestler.
Unmemorable on the mic.
Excellent ring work, he did get over with the crowd, but not on a major level like a Rock, HHH, Macho, or anything.
The fact (not his fault) that the industry was trending downward when he got over in the WWE hurts his overall legacy IMHO.
I"m not huge on ECW, but I know him and respect him, but I don't think many casuals do.

I give him a high 6, in the grand scheme of the game he is above average, but he isn't on the top level of performers.
