I’ve done it for 4-5 years. My first barber was coo, he only knew how to do basic cuts, and every now and then he’d get sloppy and leave a mistake. The final straw was one day after my basic ass cut I handed him his usual $20 tip included and he was like “Thanks but going forward haircuts are $20”
I was so appalled
like the audacity of this man right now. That was the last time I went to him.
After that I had went to another shop around the corner from my old one. Met my new barber there, he had my taper proper, hairline crispy, and he did all the lil things without asking, like using the straight edge razor, alcohol’d my joint, scissors to trim the loose hair, blow dried the hairs off me, powdered me up and dust my face off with the lil brush they use pause. Old barber never did nunadat so it was a no brainer.
Fast forward literally a month or 2 later and my new barber moved to my old shop around the corner
I was tight.
What had saved me was my old barber got there every day at 12:30, so as long as I got my cut between 9 to 11:30 I wouldn’t have to see him and I did that for the next 4 or so years. My barber moved again this past summer and I got locs now so his services aren’t needed.
But yeah I don’t like barber hopping with barbers in the same shop. Don’t wanna look like a disloyal ass nikka to everybody in the shop. The only time I make an exception is if my main barber wasn’t there that day, I’ll use my backup barber but he knows he’s the backup so things wouldn’t get awkward. Gotta be cool with the other barbers sometimes.
