That said with how electronic and automated things are, it probably won’t take long at all.

It’s like I keep comparing it to a Ponzi scheme.Nobody is taking advantage of the U.S. we willingly outsourced our entire manufacturing base so U.S businesses could leverage cheap labor and increase profit margins.
China and Mexico did not trick us.
It was Reagan, The Bushes and Clinton’s embrace of neoliberal policies that got us here. Trump was a big Reagan supporter and Republican are still big supporters of offshoring.
But they are trying to push a fake populist message and they need a brown or yellow boogie man to blame because god forbid powerful white men take accountability for their failures.
The fact that they try to make it look like China and Mexico somehow pulled off some kind of Jedi mind tricks on the U.S is fukking laughable.
I’m not even opposed to the use of tariffs to build back American manufacturing base, but this haphazard, chaotic, Wil E Cayote acme tariff pans is insane.
A bunch of people yelling shyt that sounds good, build the hype up then get the money and dip.
When the only punishment is “criticism”, that’s a low price to pay for getting the bag these companies will get for saying they’ll build factories but completely half-ass it. Meanwhile each taxpayer is paying for their incomplete project.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other day. I think the 90s felt new, fresh and modern on a lot of levels building on the 80s. Probably technology played a big part, you have Hip-Hop/RnB blowing up, the Internet getting more fun and better, world opening up... Now 30 years later a lot is standardized, monetised and stale. Politics going backwards. World feels old now.
