Trump is a failed businessman. Unlike all his other rhetorics this is the most dangerous one and will flame him out because tariffs hurt everyone's pockets equally. There's zero economic sense in any of this. If he did this because he wanted to improve domestic manufacturing and become fully self-sustained well, he better be prepared for massive inflation and spending the next decade building up manufacturing because it's not easy.
