Republicans have the majority though. What incentive do they have to allow any witnesses in the first place? They can just vote against it and the Ds can't do anything.
They do have that right but before this news broke, polling was at 70% of people saying they wanted witnesses and evidence, slightly less than 50% of Rs and over 60% of independents. Which direction do you think those numbers are going if Schiff and Nadler are in the news insinuating Trump may have ordered the death of a white female US ambassador with a sparkling record?

They'd have to come to some sort of agreement because that would piss off a lot of the constituency they are hoping to hang on to and what absolutely mobilize the D base.

@CNN
"Donald Trump doesn't want witnesses... Therefore, Mitch McConnell, who is Donald Trump's lapdog, doesn't want information and witnesses. Therefore, 52 other relatively spineless Republicans don't want witnesses."

There is no way you can spin him telling two Russians he claims he "doesn't know" to get rid of her into he's talking about firing her...

That's the literal equivalent of your employer telling the sandwich shop clerk across the street to fire you...:what:
If the sandwich shop clerk was a mobster and his deli was also used to launder money, these weren't just regular guys

Republican Voters Increasingly Back The GOP’s Move To Block Impeachment Witnesses

People here stay overestimating Republican voters for some reason. He'll just go on about it being fake news, yadda yadda, and they'll fall in line.

I think Republicans are far more worried about pissing off Trump (thus leading to him going on Twitter telling his cult to primary them) than Republican voters who will vote Republican regardless.

Rs are not doing all of this to protect or preserve Trump, they are doing this to protect and preserve their consolidation of power. You have a GOP who up until three years ago was splintered into multiple factions with very little power. Now they have embraced one of those factions to form a united front. A lot of Rs with a conscious don't want to be under that banner so they are attacking the root of that problem, Trump. Others are seeing the fruits of what they've been trying to accomplish for years and their own people being their obstacle, they don't give a sh*t about Trump, they see that power and they want to make sure they can preserve it once Trumps reign is over.

You nervous Nancys give Trump way more power than he has. He is just a convenient scape goat for the McConnell's of the GOP.

Maybe I’m naive but I don’t think he was calling for a hit.

If they don't let Parnas testify, the tape absolutely must leak to the media before the senate vote...

That tape needs to be plastered on every television set in this country before that senate vote...

Do you think it will change anything? I don't. Now it may change things in the voters minds...I just don't see it changing anything with this "trial"
