i usually go to bed at 9 30 on sundays to be fresh for the work week but last night i stayed up to watch.

Damn friends. I really really want to like this season more than I do. It's not bad, not by a long shot, and it's better than most of what's on TV. I just don't like it as much as I want to. Is this season 8 episodes like the first was?

Holy fukk, there was some absolutely atrocious editing in this episode.
They seriously put in two overhead shots to transition into and out of a fukking 7 second dialogue? Thelma Schoonmaker would be spinning in her grave if she saw that shyt.
Other than that (and maybe the misplaced fight scene) this episode was pretty good. I do start to feel like the whole Frank subplot is getting in the way of the main plot though, this season is at its best when it focuses on the actual police investigation and the way the fukked up lives of the three mains affect it.

That repeat of the freeway establishing shot struck me as weird too.
And I agree that Frank's storyline is coming across as completely unnecessary (and this is completely disregarding how awful I think Vaughn is in the role) and does nothing but bring the detectives storyline to a screeching halt.
Its like there are two different shows going on.
