:heh: I have less than 8 minutes left in episode 4. When did this show become "Sons of Anarchy"? (Other than the fact that biker gang is consuming drugs. You never see SAMCRO consume drugs other than weed.)

I just realized why I didn’t like the ending of True Detective. It’s because Rust and Marty are Huck and Tom. They strip down everything romantic about Twain’s characters and just give us the bare bones – a man who can’t fit in his world because of the shyt he can’t help notice and a charismatic who can’t see past his next impulse. They betray the Huck/Rust character in the end though by having him come back from the territories, solve the crime and find peace with who he is. Huck knows he will never really change anything about the Tuttles/Sheperdsons/Grangerfords/Louisiana State Police so he does what little good he can and moves on. Rust does some good but can’t leave it alone. He comes back makes it right and finds redemption. It’s as silly as Huck coming home and preventing the civil war by convincing the South to end slavery. Huck’s a superman because he doesn’t give up, he’s always going to be searching for the perfect world. At the end of True Detective, Rust stops searching. He becomes complacent and gives up. He successfully transitions from Huck to Tom.

:heh: I just pressed play on the 5th episode, 6 minutes in this show has gone from being "Sons of Anarchy" the previous episode to transforming into "Breaking Bad" this episode.

Man, garbage ass cliched tv shows are spoiling you with their bullshyt writing for anyone disappointed with there not being a twist in this show

Appreciate the art, this was masterpiece crafted storytelling and acting... If theres one twist in this show it would be the fact that there was no twist at all :umad:

I don't know if you're talking to me, but the lack of a twist isn't what disappointed me. If anything it was the "twist" that Rust's character did.

He went from someone unsatisfied with his world to someone satisfied with it. I explain it a little better a few posts up.
How did Rust give up? How is not seeing the world as a complete shythole (which he was obviously bullshytting about) anymore giving up?

This is good but its not the equivalent of Huck ending the civil war, they don't stop the conspiracy, they just got the right criminal after dude had almost 2 decades more killing under his belt. The last 20 minutes (and the ending in general) is about the fact that they did at most "their part" because that's all anyone could do.

Anyhow I still rank this up their with the last season of BB

I think deep down a lot of his self worth came from solving the case in 95, its not a coincidence the fact as soon as he began to doubt that his life fell apart. I mean up to that point he had a happy domestic life and had finally earned the respect of his peers. He was content.

As soon as he didn't have that he slipped back into "fukk the world" mode. Then as soon as he once again "did his part" he seemed to be more optimistic at the end.
