Of course, there were some elements in the set design—in last night’s episode, you see the big creature wrapped in yellow fabric, the Yellow King—that were obviously intentional.

I doubt they'll ever say either way, but this wasn't the Yellow King, it was Errol's version. Kinda like you go into a church and see pictures of Jesus.

The old black woman obviously seen some crazy shyt to be rambling about "Him Who Eats Time", and she was never there. So I wonder what she seen.

Also it was kinda dope they showed the space vortex in that particular room, if that was a representation of the King.

The Yellow King was the sun brehs. That's why there was a hole in the ceiling in the main room. Stars, flat circles, "him who eats time", sacrifices, and so on.

Only when he heard /read Nic Pizzolatos public comments(which exists outside of canon) that he started formulating it around the writer's intent. At least be honest about it.

The fact is, creator's intent has no bearing on judging art. If some painter takes a shyt on his hand and uses feces to smear a white canvas, he can sit there and tell us all how it represents some subjective deep meaning but it doesn't make the fact that we are judging it for being shyt (literally and figuratively in this case).

great show.. must rewatch in a binge session to catch a bunch of other things


i think a lot of people's disappointment is in not understanding what this show was about

TRUE DETECTIVE... it wasn't fantasy or sci fy or supernatural or even "great twist" type of show

it was about real detectives and the lives they live.. here's a major case they solved.... period

everyone was waiting for "who is the real killer", "rust knows more", "marty might have done it"


nah it was just a story of two cops.. and anytime you didn't get a direct answer in 10 minutes, you assumed some wild shyt... like "where was rust for 10 years.. he was killing.. he was working.. he was......." nah nikka was just on a fishing boat chilling

but the dialogue, scenery, interactions, makeup over years, storyline, and especially acting from EVERYONE was on point and better than 90% of shyt on tv... what more can you ask for??

Marty can see the future. he knew what hood to be in close proximity to during the shootout.... knew they were going to need the entire police force and paramedics and convinced the black detectives to rally the troops even though baldy thought he sounded just as crazy as Rust. great fukkin series even better acting, but imo this ain't in goat contention for me. all the "false" clues not materializing into anything... the spiral accidentally left on the fridge. what was the point of the website and the focus on clues for things to end this clean. I believe the writer did exactly what he said... he had the ending already in his head... and just went to town with the rest of the story. threw in all types of compelling shyt to add to the lore of it all... and thrust kicked you towards the climax in the final 2 shows. don't get me wrong.. I'm satisfied, but I'm leaving season1 with the feeling that this could have been some goat shyt, but its not quite there......

cause just like real life, you don't always get everyone

a lot of clues are left, because an entire family of people were doing this, for decades.... even at the end of the show, the news said all authorities deny any link to the governor.. meaning his family and his church are still out there.. remember there was like 10 dudes in that video killing the girl.. and a lot more probably.. and all had high titles and major pull
