stop watching then fakkit.

fukk off c*nt. I'm well within my means and rights to criticize anything I see fit, especially things I like or hold in high regard.

I can't stand this type of thinking around Arcadium/Rec Room. You have to cheerlead for shyt otherwise you can't be a true fan of it. Reminds me of that Breaking Bad thread.

You can go back and read what I thought about the first 5 episodes. Show is amazing, but when I feel I want to criticize something, I will.

That shyt was lazy, cliched writing in a show that was damn near perfect.

I think I missed something, what are you referring to here?
When rust goes to see Tuttle asks from records about the shut down schools, Tuttle says hey I'll have my clerk take you down to the old records place. Just the way he said it, and the fact that the clerk came in and did even say a hi or god bless, it just screamed they were ready to make rust disappear

Yeah she did. That's the whole reason she did it.

:wtf: at people talking about sexual tension between them two. The only reason she fukked Rust is because she knew it would hurt Marty. She even told Rust that.

"I almost went with a stranger in a bar....I'm sorry Rust but you see, he'll have to go now, because this is something he can't live with....this will hurt him, I'm sorry but thank you".

That's the only reason she fukked him. It wasn't even like she wanted to.

Fred.

That's true. Which is the best way to hurt Marty? On real , that was a c*nt move but I can see her point and why she did this. Marty hurts her more than often, stay lying, stay cheating, etc.

I can see why people are up in arms about rust fukking Marty's ex wife. Rust was always cold and calculating and calm. He seemed like he had everything in his world under control. Marty was all over the place barely had peace in his own home. And the way Marty try to come off as for a lack of a better term, "better" or "normal" and belittle rust made people tack onto rust. But rust world was unravelling as he found out how deep the case was going and how his superiors didn't give him any support. Then Marty threw him to the bushes... Yes he was losing it.

I didn't think it was that bad. I think a part of Rust misses what he lost (wife and kids) and is envious of what Marty has. He even went over to play house that one day. It makes sense to me that he gave in in that moment to Maggie's advances.

The shyt with the biker gang ledoux works for miraculously being the same gang Rust did undercover dirt for? That shyt was lazy writing.

No. I'm not saying that. You're conflating what I'm saying, trust me. I am saying that by nature humans are incredibly complex entities, and we all accept that either consciously or unconsciously. Characters are not human. They're exactly that, "characters" -- with certain defining qualities that you can add to or abstract from, but they are discernible. Nobody is shocked when Marty kills Ledoux or beats up teenage kids, or sleeps with an ex child hooker. He's a hothead and impulsive, so all that stuff is in line with his "character." If characters were real people (i.e. non-definable), how could you ever have a legitimate story about anything? Everything would be amorphous and dialectic -- essentially melding into nothingness. Rust isn't a man, other than some archetypal inference. He's a character. Nic built him up to be Nietzche's proverbial Superman, and tonight he made him weak. He made him what Aristotle would call the incontinent man. That's my problem with the writing.

I'm not over thinking it. I kinda do this for a living and I'm a bad boy at what I do. But, like I said, some will feel me, some wont.

I feel where your coming from. It was outside of the realm of where Rush char has acted 99.9% of the other time. I know him and Marty had the tension and he felt Marty didn't have his back but still the way they built Rust it felt like it was something he wouldn't do. For me this was my House of Cards episode 11 moment. I won't get into what happens so I don't spoil but I feel like both show's could have been stronger without them.

One of the neat things about Russ was how he didn't conform to society and lived almost righteous to his own moral code. This did diminish this to me a little.

yes.. not only Rust's lack of control in that situation but also his lack of foresight. this guy is a savant at reading people... he has seen the disgust in her eyes on several occasions at Marty's weakness and inability to admit to his flaws and wrong doings. the desperation in the Maggie beating on his door was palpable for me as a viewer. how could Rust read that situation so wrong? there was absolutely nothing good that could have come from succumbing to carnal pleasures at that moment.. with her. sure he was at a low moment.. suspended.. partner not having his back.. drinking heavily, but this is a guy who is not adverse to tragedy, but with that said he does make bad decisions in the immediate aftermath of dealing with tragedy.. the drug binge after the death of his daughter... choosing to drink on the anniversary of the death and showing up drunk on Marty's doorstep. for a man who doesn't put much stock in personal relationships and who has been constantly ridiculed on the job by his superiors and colleagues... I didn't expect this "tragedy" be akin to losing a daughter and would cause him to make such a critical error in judgement. i just wished the writer chose a different way to wedge a wall between the 2 detectives. Rust was Maggie's puppet. unfortunately it definitely alters how I view him.....

I dont think thats a double. In ep 2 i think they showed her laying on the bed in some yellow panties and for her slim frame it was pretty nice. Her old ass got the firmness of a fukking college freshman:jawalrus:

This. It wasn't a double cause she has no problem show her ass cause I remmy she did show her ass in another movie "It Runs in the Family" with the Douglas family in it (Kirk, Michael, his son and his mother).

Seems like all indications point to Rust killing Rev. Tuttle, (by overdose) and the new detectives trying to pin the "Yellow King" murders on him as well...

I feel like the new detectives don't know shxt.

We have seen or at least been given clues on how far that rabbit hole goes.. while the two brothers are still thinking shallow...

Edit- Oh and Episode 6 was easily the worst episode so far, hopefully they rebound on the next one

I chalk up to what Maggie represented to him. Wife, mother of the daughter he lost. Basically, everything he had before he became the Rust we know. Pretty powerful emotions to keep in check.

:ahh:
That's just how I feel. I dislike in literature, film, etc., when the antagonist's good and redeemable qualities are replaced by hypocrisy in some egregious sense. It makes the character feel hollow and dull to me in some regard. Yes, people are like that, we have qualities that are malleable and we are constantly prioritizing and switching them up when they suit us. Moreover, we understand that real humans are infinitely complex entities, so we accept that conciously or unconciously (e.g., The Taxman is just a man). I just feel like characters in print or in whatever medium have to have some definitive and defining qualities. He made Rust a huge hypocrite for no reason. The dynamic of Marty's, Rust's and Marty's wife relationship deteriorating was already in place, and he could've explained the ultimate breaking point between them by some other convention.

It's still a great show. But, I think that shyt was incredibly weak on Nic's behalf. It's some Daniel Steele type shyt that a writer of his quality shouldn't have to resort to, in my opinion.

And I'm not trying to be esoteric by talking about literary devices in this manner. Some of you will understand what I'm saying though, and others wont. That's fine.

To be fair this didn't come as a surprise, me and many othesr already thought Rust was gonna fukk Maggie. They made it clear in the show that she was interested in him and that he also felt some type of way about her.
