I don't think Marty's working with Rust, but I think the cops' investigation makes Marty reach out to Rust. There's a big chance their falling out had to do with Rust's obsession with the case and the idea of a big conspiracy. Now these cops trying to pin the whole thing on Rust but Marty knows better, so he probably starts to see that Rust might've been right after all.

Chambers' King in Yellow exists. There's a shot of Dora's diary where a few lines of the King in Yellow play are written.

I posted that pic like 20 pages ago, but you aren't seeing my point.

It's lines from the play, but it's never referenced as being from "The King In Yellow". You get what I'm saying? In "True Detective" it doesn't exist as a work of fiction or a fictional play, it's an actual cult.

Just rewatch all of them for good measured.

I've watched some of them 3 times. I try to watch it for the first time for the story and the second time for the "artistic side" of the show (acting, writing, cinematography, and so on) but you can pick up on things you missed.
