aight, finally caught the last episode, couple thoughts:

- that was cold the way rust and marty sat there and kept the lie up about how it went down with reggie, while we sitting there watching what really happened lol...also showed how them boys made a damn good team...

- speaking of how it went down, that shyt showed how cold rust really is...the way he was able to make it look how they described, damn...

- we finally got to meet the girl that rust was about to marry...and it's pretty easy to see why it didn't work...once dude mentioned the yellow king, it seems that's gonna consume rusts life, as we see in the present...

- i don't think rust and marty were working together in the present on the case, at least not yet...think after the new cops mentioned what they had and the ideas they going with, think marty gonna seek out rust cause he now knows rust still on it....and like i mentioned, they made a hell of a team, so marty gonna go see what his boy been up to and what leads he got....and they gonna try to solve that shyt...kinda a redemption for marty, and rust just wanna get to the bottom of it...

- marty's daughter grew up all fukked up lol...that's what's eating him and why he gonna help rust solve it...it'll help him do right....

- obviously, all the references to that book 'the king in yellow' gonna lead to a cult that believes in that shyt...don't think the show gonna go into the supernatural itself...just gonna have some crazy muthafukkas that's into it...

oh yea, it's pretty obvious this shyt is getting passed down in fam generations...cause i don't think it was a coincidence that the cop in the jail where ole boy mentioned the yellow king to rust had the same name as the sheriff that was on that case when the young girl went missing when the case first started...

What's weird is Ambrose Bierce, Robert W. Chambers, H.P. Lovecraft, August Derleth, "The King In Yellow", etc. doesn't seem to exist in the show. I mean the authors/writings. Because as smart as Rust is, that would've been one of the first things he researched. So the mythology of the King and Carcosa and all that weird shyt is an actual religion/cult on the show and not just some weirdos obsessed with the fiction.

yep, cause you know rust would've been on that shyt....or maybe, rust hasn't thought about it since he's in it/it's happening to him....he's been so busy running around, maybe it just hasnt clicked with him yet....he might need something to spark it in him like 'I've heard that shyt before'...

Maybe, but I'm more leaning towards it just doesn't exist on the show. Mostly because in those types of stories, it doesn't exist either. Nobody in a Lovecraft story is like :ohhh: "oh yeah, the nightmare corpse city of R'lyeh, I read about that in a Lovecraft story!" because it's not a story, it actually exists in the story. If that makes sense.

it makes sense, I follow what you saying...

the reason I say it might be different here is because unlike people in a lovecraft story referring to another lovecraft story, this is a completely different writer....meaning I can keep making references to another writer's work, and even though it might be the foundation of the shyt happening to the people in my story, i could still have them acknowledge that other writer's work cause that writer aint me...there's no connection of the 2 worlds except the obvious references writer B is making to writer A's work...if that makes sense...

Chambers' King in Yellow exists. There's a shot of Dora's diary where a few lines of the King in Yellow play are written.
