I enjoy season 2 up until the last episode or 2

The ending made the whole season pointless

Yeah the storyline was contrived as fukk but so was season 1s

I think the main thing that turned people off was the actors.Had they did the same exact script but had Tom Hardy or whoever the fukk people love to stan people would've claimed it was the best thing since sliced bread like they did with season 1

I liked season 2. Wasn't as good as 1 and there were things they really should have done differently... Should have just kept it to two main characters.. no more then 3 tho.

Next season if there is one shouldn't come out until atleast 2018 :manny:

im still :dead: at everyone acting like watching season 2 gave them cancer

was it great? no

decent? i think so
I'm torn honestly. I thought it was decent up until that shytfest of a finale. I mean, even Vaughn got it going and then came that desert scene. I liked the David Lynch-esque overtones and where it was going initally. Just thought the execution could've been better.

Shoutout to Colin Farrell though, he killed it as Velcoro.

Empire, Tyrant, House of Cards, Sense8, Masters of Sex, Homeland are the first ones that came to mind.

I was going to say Sons of Anarchy and Marco Polo as well but those were done in December 2014.

None of those shows were coming off a universally acclaimed first season in 2015.

In some cases you're talking about shows that were never considered prestige dramas in the first place ("Empire") or that were well past their prime ("Homeland", "House Of Cards", etc.)

The hate for True Detective is getting out of control. Season 1 is one of the best seasons of TV ever. And shyts on many shows. Let's see what Pizzolatto has in store for season 3. I have a strong feeling he's gonna silence a lot of the haters.

Don't really see what that has to do with what I said. I'm not going to judge True Detective season 2 any harsher or gentler just because it's completely separate first season was highly acclaimed. I compared Season 2 of True Detective to other dramas that aired the same year. What aired the year before has no relevance to my opinion.

It's not about you breh. You can do whatever you want. The rest of the world is going to judge something coming off a critically acclaimed season far, far more harshly than a random ass show like "Empire" having a subpar season. That's just how it is. The same thing happened with "Homeland" season 2.

Definitely agree with that.

Look. Pizzolatto was rushed. Everyone had said that. And the expectations were through the roof. I like Lombardo stood up and took the blame. Because HBO has a high standard and they don't operate like other networks. HBO is the standard because they let their creators work with little interference. This is great they are gonna give Nic room to breathe and let him deliver season 3 when he feels it's ready.

That being said, they need to go back to the OG format of having one director do all the episodes. The first season was flawless because of Cary's direction. They don't need an A-list director (Cary F. was nobody when he filmed the first season) They just need a director who's style and vision fits with what the story will be. At max they should use two directors for this.

They also need to get the right actors. I personally like Farrell, thought he was incredible. And Vaughn was inspired casting that.... well, he just didn't do as good as I hoped he would've.

I still think season 3 can be incredible. And I expect Pizzolatto is going to silence a lot of the critics with season 3. He just needs to take his time.
All the failings were pizzs fault. He was rushed because he didn't have time to plagiarize a new script. What was Vaughn supposed to do with lines like "it's like blue balls, in your heart".

And they threw in kitsch and his character was basically pointless.

Pizz with season two might have proved he is the drake of the film game and he desperately needs his Quentin Miller.

Edit : and the basic premise for season two was too convoluted confusing and messy.

And mind you this criticism is coming from a guy that thought it was a decent 6-7/10 season. That was in spite of pizz. They had stuff to work with and the end of the season was better but they dropped the ball in many areas.

I think this is the logical plan

1) Give them guy more time to work
2) You gotta have someone there to give the :camby:"nah that shyt is wack, take that out of the story"

I agree McAdams was great. Kitsch was given weak material but I thought he gave a good performance. Vaughn...nah. Just couldn't buy him from beginning to end. Ferrel kinda ranged from wtf to ok. He was best when he had no dialogue...

Everyone probably wants the show to return to a detective duo so I doubt he'll do that. But if he did I'd kill for Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender.

despite season 2 short comings I still enjoyed it, but it definitely felt rushed the whole season and very slow the first few episodes. I hope they bring this back for a third season.

Season 2 was crazy ass and I'm kinda :patrice:about this guy taking the blame for it. It's possible he's telling the truth but it's also equally possible Pizzolatto was a one trick pony and HBO is trying to take blame to protect him so everyone gives season 3 a chance.

For now I'll assume he's telling the truth and give Pizzolatto a pass. If the season 3 premiere is weak it's time for the bushes.

Fred.
I think he exec rushed it because he probably saw how :what: the scripts were and he knew it was too far gone for a total rewrite. HBO won't get anywhere betting the farm on this guy.
