The denouement was crap. I think the suspense was built nicely, despite the quirky dialogue I was genuinely titillated. The ending was sloppy.

Look. Pizzolatto was rushed. Everyone had said that. And the expectations were through the roof. I like Lombardo stood up and took the blame. Because HBO has a high standard and they don't operate like other networks. HBO is the standard because they let their creators work with little interference. This is great they are gonna give Nic room to breathe and let him deliver season 3 when he feels it's ready.

That being said, they need to go back to the OG format of having one director do all the episodes. The first season was flawless because of Cary's direction. They don't need an A-list director (Cary F. was nobody when he filmed the first season) They just need a director who's style and vision fits with what the story will be. At max they should use two directors for this.

They also need to get the right actors. I personally like Farrell, thought he was incredible. And Vaughn was inspired casting that.... well, he just didn't do as good as I hoped he would've.

I still think season 3 can be incredible. And I expect Pizzolatto is going to silence a lot of the critics with season 3. He just needs to take his time.

I tapped out around episode 6. Not sure what happened in the thread after that.
