Now, this is a clear attempt at a group who's sound begin to be left in the past by the mid 00s and tried to jump on the wave. This wasn't well received by many in the hip hop community because they felt like the Mobb was reaching to maintain relevancy....

Personally the song has always been w/e to me.. But as it pertains to the topic, Lil Jon's whole style and aura comes from Three 6 Mafia.

This record here is what you would've considered a banger in 2004.. Maybe not so much now. Three 6 Mafia's sound has managed to grow.. morph.... evolve.... sustain itself and transcend time...

Maybe one day Boom Bap/Dark Boom Bap will return to the forefront...

Maybe it won't..

It's pretty disingenuous to suggest that Mobb Deep was hopping on the Crunk wave based on this one awful song, but then turn around and dismiss the Miley Cyrus song because it was just one song. Mobb had songs on that album that fit with their older style.

Breh

I wasn't being disingenuous at all. They tried to make a club banger (read the thread title and keep context in mind) and they just so happened to reach out to Jon who is a direct decendant of three six Mafia . I never implied or said directly their style changed howeve, I did say that dark boom bad sound had died by 04.

Now on the contrary

Your boy tried to tell me juice man style changed after being featured on a song with a pop artist and I told him I could smoke a bag of that if he could provide proof that Juice's style changed via 3 or more pop songs and pulling juice's last three albums.

Not to mention that even Jucie's song :snoop:

Ok. I see what you mean. Just seeing the two posts almost one after the other left me like

Just came across this, noticed Triple 6 Mafia won, I will have to finish listening to their whole discography before judging.

The Infamous and Hell on Earth are MORE than enough to give Mobb Deep the edge
