Nope. Black American. Never been flashy and don't consider my everyday wear to be swaggy or fashionable (basic t-shirt, jeans). I like to observe others.

Well I could ask if you grew up around West Indians but maybe homie isn't up on peeping the "tells" of people either.

How was Panama? I heard it's hella expensive.

LOL the bytches run the Taxi game on you. Right now there's a "lockdown" (nikkas still go out) but chick's aren't as pressed as in Medellin and Cartegena so although some nikkas tried to push bytches on me, I only met one girl that works at a juice stand down here.
Hit the skins yet?
Are the regular girls (not pros) promiscuous down there or you gotta take em out a few times before you smash

I will say that you brehs thinking you blend in are fooling yourselves. Just like we can spot foreign blacks here, they can there but even better.

In africa they're accustomed to tribal stuff and everyone's black there. So they usually know your tribe by face right off bat.

Same way I seldom miss a 1st generation immigrant here...but they're even better at it.

And yes we Americans give off a certain energy abroad. We walk and move different. Hard to explain.
Which part of Africa is that where people tell tribes by face? You nikkas stay making up duck tales.

It's interesting reading y'all saying black Americans stand out. I thought it was the opposite, 'cause when I was in Panama, whenever strangers would talk to me, it was in Spanish.
When I was in Panama I was too tall for anyone to consider me Panamanian, same in Colombia. In Peru a beggar chick tried to push me back into a grocery store so I could buy her pañales for her baby. It's like Avon said in The Wire, "They spot your gringo ass coming from a mile away".

But it doesnt sound like it based on that post. Africans don't "come together and ride it out", I dont know where you heard that from. Also the continent has 54 countries and all of them are very different in many aspects. Plus crime is BIG and you will get poked up, short or both if you are a foreigner moving reckless.

By the way I was saying that Africans do come together and ride it out. Kenya is going through it right now, but nikkas ain't getting robbed like that. There's a breh on here who was boots on the ground a couple of months ago and wasn't pressed at all.

This is what nikkas here don't understand. Everytime yall move to another country, especially a poorer country than the US, you are directly or indirectly displacing some local/s. Which will always produce animosity, immediately. Same thing happened a few years ago to the sisters from detroit who decided to make a life in Ghana. Locals werent pleased about the land they bought, felt as if it belonged to them instead, and got them women up out the paint asap. Didn't give a f*ck about none of that ''bubububut im black like you :mjcry:" sh*t that yall think matters outside of the united states.

All you nikkas always talking that "move to Africa" sh*t and I just laugh at how clueless they are. For one, simply because nobody here is built for that life period point blank. But also because of how silly nikkas sound thinking they're just going to go to Ghana get citizenship and a place to live, with no repercussions or consequences. You WILL be a target from day one. Everything you get while there, will be looked at by a local as something that they shouldve had first or that theyre more entitled to than your 'rich' foreign ass. But yall go head gone over there and do yall thing don't listen to ol KyoKarateMan, im just "hatin". :mjlol:

you type this proudly like it’s some kinda sin for a Black man to want to live in a country where he’s not the minority.

but one thing we all know is that white people dont have these problems. they go thru the worlds toughest hoods and barrios and all them third world dudes do to white people is show em their teeth.

white people can go buy big beautiful villas and land by the hectare and be perfectly fine, but if we do it we’re a target.

people with this kinda mentality deserve to be slaves and live their lives dirt poor in slums

:francis: This.

There's many things as an American you can do right but you will always be an American. The "best" thing I have seen (and done) is to make sure that you travel to where ever your goin often, and I mean yearly at minimum and if your thinking about moving there make it twice a year for a few years and make all the friends in the world (male and female). You need to be cool with every one from the local street food people to the local low level politician.

This applies especially if you are moving to a big and dangerous city like dude in the OP did. Also it's going to sound silly but if you are from some dam suburbs here in America plz travel to some rough parts of your own country before you think about flexing somewhere else :snoop:

Sorry - its a long post

Yes - getting to know the area you choose to move to is important.
We cruised for years trying to find some place in the Caribbean we wanted to retire to.
For some reason we decided on Cozumel Mexico
its got about 100,000 people but 30,000 are expats
so many expats from Texas there, there is a development named Corpus Christie.
a good portion of the locals speak English.
after we stopped cruising we would go down there twice a year and talk with the expats , locals and business owners.
In the end,
An older YT business owner from Texas hooked us up with a real estate broker ( agents in the states) , contacts , banks, etc . He also helped us get local prices, instead of gringo prices.
I was his first customer years ago .
Just walked off a cruise ship, saw some bummy looking dude holding a sign for a cigar bar shop with free margaritas and walked on in.
Got to know him and his family over the years and he was like , you might as well just move here , so we were like fukk it.
Hardly any violence on the island, the pandemic has hit it hard though, but they are not acting up, yet ... still keeping an eye out on that .
and hell, he said pick a spot wherever you want , its that safe.
so we finally have a spot picked out and in the process to buy, and its actually 5 blocks from the dude I am talking about.
its not touristy and very local, it helps to speak a little Spanish where we picked.
I asked him why didn't he move to the ritzy part of the island , he was like if I wanted to move around more YT people , he would have just moved to another neighborhood in Texas.
Plus, we wanted the local experience as well.
Hope to finish sometime this summer. Hoping to go sign in July/August
We picked a spot that was being renovated, the person that owns it bought it and gutted it and before they got a chance to get started , they got a job on the mainland and decided to sell
we got it for local prices . it'll take a few years to reno and i do not think we are going to rent it out ( the wife is being funny)

But it took us years to do this , build a network of people and learn the layout of the area.
i mean you can do it faster than us ( it took us a decade ) , but you have to have some people there working with you for it to go smooth.

And no flexxing . period. hell I Iook homeless sometimes, I lost 75 pounds and scared to buy new clothes ( may get big again), HA!

A buddy of mine that stays at all inclusives, was in the DR , and said one time there was this middle aged CAC couple from Florida flossing hard down there . looking like Mr. & Mrs T on shopping excursions.
One day the concierge, just told them that for their own safety , they could not leave the resort for the rest of their stay ( 2 weeks) , the wolves got the scent & their taxi driver had been offered money to "drop them off" somewhere special . But he was a legit dude and let the hotel know. the resort offered to move them to another part of the island to a sister resort , but they just went home.
