Special teams coach needs to be fired.

Also Kyle didn't coach the team on the new overtime rules did he.

Wild.
Agreed on the first point. It's not as abysmal as with Hightower but we've never had a good ST team unit under Kyle.

Not sure about the 2nd point. What would've been coached differently? I thought getting the ball first was the right call, our defense needed a breather plus the "get the first possession on sudden death" makes all the sense in the world to me. We should've scored a TD when we were at the 15 yard line :manny:

I think the overtime rules thing is overblown. I yelled when we chose to receive, and I don't understand Kyle's reasoning for doing so, but it coaching the players to know the rules wouldn't have made any difference. Mecole Hardman caught the game winning TD and had no idea because he didn't know the rules either.
I fail to understand what's wrong with getting the ball first in OT :dwillhuh: you put pressure on the other team plus you get the first chance in sudden death.

theres a big analytics debate going on, but I actually agree with you too

they just had to score a TD and not settle for a FG

Wilkes coached that 9ers D up yesterday

He called a great game
Only TD due to a Special Teams gaffe
I mean thats not true, the last drive in OT and also felt like chiefs couldve gotten a TD at the end of regulation if they needed to

but most of the game yep, it was great. dline was eating. offense not being able to capitalize off this early push by the D was fatal :(

Yeah y'all lost the game twice

1. Kyle going pass happy for 3 straight possessions
2. Wasting that Field position after the INT

Shoulda been up 20-3 or at least 16-3

I understand the sudden death angle, but you lose a down to play with, which is why we chose to kick on 4th down instead of going for it. The pressure is actually on the receiving team, which is the main reason you don't choose to get the ball first.

Everyone said the same thing about Andy Reid. Now he's won three. Shanny is going to be coaching in the NFL for the next 20 years.
So you have confidence in a man who lost the sb the same way to the same team with better players? I don’t man we’ll never win breh

This makes no sense to me. So KC gets the ball and scores first. You put all the pressure on Brock and at best you tie the game and have to pray Mahomes doesn't get three first downs to set up a Butker game winning FG kick.

On KC's first series of their OT possession we took them to a 4th and 1 on their own 34. They're most likely punting in that circumstance if we chose to kick instead of receive. Which sets us up for a game winning FG drive, which is what we did with our first possession of OT. If both teams have the exact same OT performance but we flip Kyle's decision, we most likely win the game. Granted, this is contingent on the defense performing similarly without the rest of our first OT possession, which is the most legit reason Kyle had to receive first. Mahomes might be able to be stopped on 3 down football, but there's no chance you're stopping him on 4 down football. Which is also why if you choose to do this 3rd possession strategy against Mahomes, you NEED to score a TD on your first possession. Settling for a FG was a killer. But it was too tempting to pass up because we chose to receive.

Yes, because Shanny and Reid both made mistakes. But Shanny had a muffed punt and a blocked PAT go against him. That's how close the game was. Call it "unlucky" or whatever but that's part of the game. Shanny wasn't perfect but he was also unlucky, whereas Reid wasn't perfect but luck was on his side.

On the OT thing, we needed to score a TD. It doesn't matter really that we took the ball first. Shanny said he wanted the third possession. Reid said he would have gone for a 2-point conversion to try to cancel that out. It's all a moot point.

They needed to score 7 and that's all it was. If you want to make an argument, I think the argument is whether to go for it on 4th and 4. I think I would have gone for it because you're at the 9-yard line.

Id run the ball twice on 3rd and 4 there, I agree

worst case scenario is that you get stopped and KC takes over inside their own 10 needing to kick a FG to win :manny:
