On Netflix it is not presented as season 3 of what they call "Top Boy: Summerhouse", but as a standalone show. Which naturally led me to believe it could maybe be a remake or a follow up without heavy scenaristic ties. But just to be sure, I asked.

I don't think that any of that makes me retarded :ehh: but it sure was a perfect occasion for you to establish yourself as a dumb nikka:manny: KIM and don't quote me again.
I would say that I highly recommend watching the first 2 seasons; character development is very important to storyline to see how deep it gets. If you don’t, you’re just getting surface level reaction from a one season watch. Keep in mind, that the main actors were tweens, teens and very young adults during season 1 and 2- so season 3 is like a culmination of their life choices and decisions along with how their family structure (or lack of) affected their lives over that time. Helps to understand how they got where they are and why. Just like 10 yrs of your life is going to have a lot of changes m as opposed to someone just knowing you for the past year.

I’ll ask you again, would you start from season 3 of the wire or any other popular series?
Season 2 of The Wire is easily skippable. Any season of Power after season 2 is passable. A person could come in watching this last season of Power without watching any prior eps and still piece that together. I’ll go as far as saying- watching the seasons out of order is possible and still get the premise of the show. Not like they show any emotion or much of a mention over murdered people. Ghost lost his daughter and mistress in a short time span and is still pushing up on the next chick like they never existed.

Yep. I watched the first episode of season 3 not knowing better but after asking yall I came back and watched all of it in order. I just finished it like 30 min ago and was reading the thread when I saw your funny ass fukked up joke :dead:

This shyt was fukking great. Especially season 3. Maybe I'll write up my extensive thoughts later but Sheesh. These actors don't play neither.

And shout outs to all the black mom in this :wow: I don't know why they all had to be so adorable. Ra'Nell's mom was GOAT, Dushane's mom is just precious, Ats' mom saved her son from a killer with a shotty :whoo: and both Little Simz and Sully's baby momma are fine as hell and marriage material :ohlawd:

it’s really not imo re: wire season 2...and I know why you brought up power cuz nutty dude said “popular series” but power holds no place in this discussion

the only reason ppl say s2 is skippable is because it focuses on white folks. its really not skippable in any real sense, ppl just say so to seem cool.

it you're gonna watch top boy you watch the whole thing from series 1, especially sense it introduces you to the key characters

Also this argument on whether or not you have to watch Seasons 1 & 2 of Top Boy.....well yeah.

Just look at them as two perfect prequels if that helps lol.

Little Simz is cool, but IMO she didn't really seem like Dushane's type. I think Shystie would have been a better match like I mentioned once before.

Season 2 of The Wire is good, it's just that it makes such a dramatic shift in tone from the first season and there's more cacs in it, so it just caught some people off guard. I like The Greek and Vondas as villains.

Season 5 is by far the weakest one.
I think I only watched season 5 like once.....

Everytime I've tried to rewatch I barely get past the first ep.

I mean the scenario in the opening scene of season 5 starts off aight, but it just seemed forced, at least the acting....

The best part about the first few seasons, was the authenticity.

Like Mcnulty raping homeless people, was just garbage....

I get the point they were trying to make, about how fake a sensation crime leads to funding, or how certain aspects of investigating a crime are underfunded, due to systemic issues, coming from policy as well as chain of command, but the way the wire handled that situation, was pure doo doo.....

Thus why my recollection of season 5 is very vague....

Season 2 was dope, like I've said a million times on here.....

Season 2 is really about how large quantity of drugs get into the country, not cacs.

???????

*edit*

it’s been a while since I seen season 5...I definitely need a refresher re: this part of the storyline...I know it’s not literal but I vaguely remember him pretending to be a serial killer on the phone or some shyt to feed the newspaper a fake story...the whole newspaper angle was the WORST so I buried a lot of that shyt deep down to the point of outright forgetting most of it
