Based on a First Things First segment yesterday:

Good conversation but they HEAVILY weighted this towards Super Bowl runs and MVPs. Here's the list in case you don't want to watch the whole thing:

1 Brady
2 Mahomes
3 Manning
4 Rodgers
5 Warner
6 Brees
7 Lamar
8 Ben
9 Padford
10 Allen
11 Eli
12 Rivers
13 Russ
14 Cam
15 Matty Ice

Thoughts? Because I have plenty I'm going to list below, but I'll start with this. I value postseason credibility singularly over every other thing, but it's not 2x everything else. Because postseason credibility to me means more than just one or two strong playoff runs---->and if you have a couple good playoff runs but are otherwise mid, that shyt counts too...

Also, I don't really like how they ignored the "eye test" part of this, which I'm not a huge "eye test" guy, but I'm not putting a guy who was clearly inferior to another guy, just because he won a Super Bowl....or two. Or an MVP, and someone else has 0. Doesn't work like that for me!

This is what the real list should be to me:

1. Brady
2. Mahomes
3. Manning
4. Rodgers
5. Brees
6. Lamar
7. Allen
8. Favre
9. Warner
10. Ben
11. Russ
12. Stafford
13. Burrow
14. Rivers
15. Luck

Eli, Cam, and Matt Ryan don't even make the cut, though they'd make my "Top 25 of the last 25 years" list, though....but those 3 are not Top 15 since 2000, not at all.

16. Matty Ice
17. Eli
18. Goff
19. Palmer
20. Romo
21. Cam
22. Hurts
23. Herbert
24. McNabb

They omitted Brett Favre, who yes, he peaked in the 90s, but he played the majority of his career in the 00s and he was really, really good in the 00s. There's no way you omit Favre...

They lowballed Lamar and Allen both, and committed Burrow. Look, Lamar is flat out better than the best version of Warner I ever saw (which incidentally was '99 so that season shouldn't be eligible for this list; but '99 Warner is an inferior player to what I just saw from '24 Lamar)...

They lowballed Allen because he doesn't have a ring, MVP, or Super Bowl run. His peak isn't quite as high as Peak Warner, but he's more consistent elite than Warner, who had 3 great years, like 6 consecutive years of mid, then 2 great years at the end. He belongs over Warner, and he's better than anything I ever saw from Stafford or Ben...

If Lamar had Tory and Bruce he’s be a pain for the leagues ass

McNabb not being on that list sort of invalidates the whole thing

Sounds like you're going longevity over peak. Mcnabb, Mcnair, Cam and Matt Ryan all have legitimate claims. Rivers or Luck has never been an all pro, an MVP or led a team to a SB

If it's since 2000 not including 1999 Kurt Warner probably should be a bit lower

Not including 1999 Warner has no ring and like two and a half great seasons. An only has one mvp.

That's how crazy the 99 season is for Warners legacy

My list wasn't a longevity thing, nor a peak thing, nor a "who has the most awards" thing. It's all of those things combined, strictly about who was the best players...

Steve McNair is nowhere close to one of the 15 best since '00. Not even close...

Cam and McNabb really aren't that close, either...

Ryan is close though, he was more consistently good than any of the above three guys, for a longer period of time. His peak was higher than all three guys...

But he'd be the first guy out, in my Top 15. I think Luck and Rivers were better players, lack of Super Bowls and awards be damned...

It's why Josh Allen is #7 to me. He's clearly better than almost everybody else, the lack of awards or Super Bowls isn't a negative here...
