The government was the only major employer who had systems in place to avoid discriminatory hiring. Any other job and you got to hope the recruiter, manager, and anyone else in the hiring cycle isn’t racist to torpedo your application.
Government jobs were intended to provide capital for a black economy, but nikkas enjoyed that money too much and got distracted. I saw it in my own family. I had a decade-long debate with my mother until she finally admitted that they was having fun in the 70's, traveling, living life- not planning for our futures.
Oh so we can’t start businesses now. We don’t have to stay in those jobs forever.
